Mostly no. The engine check light is for emission-related faults but to be certain I suggest you check your vehicle handbook. Mostly there is a service indicator to warn when oil service and routine maintenance is needed.
I have heard some vehicles have an engine check light that is triggered by a low oil level but only because the engine management puts the engine on a reduced power programme when the oil level is allowed to become low.
