While turning the key jerk the steering wheel from one side to the other you might have to do this a couple of times the steering wheel should unlock and your key should turn all the way. This has worked on all my cars I have owned

I locked the steering wheel and now cannot turn key at all, red theft light blinking

Put the key in and turn it as you move the steering wheel. left or right. This should release the steering and key. Fords are bad for this. The light blinks all the time, slowly( about once a second). When it blinks fast, then you have a security problem.

Key wont come out motor wont even click whats wrong

Try turning your steering wheel, some of the cars has a safety lock that will lock your tumblers in your ignition and the steering wheel which acts as an anti-theft systems. I would try turning your steering wheel to the left and right as much as you can which will not be much. Yes, I realize it seems a bit goofy, but I had vehicle that would not let go my key, but turning the steering wheel to the left and right and at the same time attempting to turn the ignition to the neutral position to get the key out was the only way to retrieve my key. It keeps people from putting the vehicle into Neutral and pushing your car away without the key.

it has a anti theft locking steering wheel column you have to put the key in then turn the string wheel to the left or right hard and while still holding the steering wheel turn the key. and next time fyi if you turn the steering wheel after the key is not in the ignition it will lock to prevent theft.

Shut off 1997 buick skylark to go into store. Put key back into ignition and will not turn to start. The key will not turn to start car. Locked up. Is it the ignition switch, key, anti theft light also...

ok if key goes fully into ign then you have a easy and common issue. im guessing the steering wheel is locked too? if so insert key and hold firm forward turning pressure while slowly trying to turn steering wheel from side to side. the wheel should turn about a half a inch each way. if your parked in a pot hole or aginst the curb then more effort with the wheel will be required. this should do it good luck. if not this call a lock smith, they cancahange that lock cylinder on site where ever the car is in most cases, your is not complicated to replace

Can't turn key all the way on 1996 Toyota Camry.

Is your steering wheel locked? Turn the key as much as you can, then turn the steering wheel and see if it releases the lock. You should be able to completely turn the key after this.

Dude, just take a rubber mallet and hit the key moderately. This will fix the problem. I had the same thing go wrong with my van.
