Hot engine, cold or both? hot is 180F+ !
ticks = idle speed, (very old name for idle, but im very old)
low idle speed has many causes. (over 50 in fact)
but has 3 modal causes:
1: ISC valve stuck. (idle speed control valve) clean it?
2: in limphome mode, suzuki cuts idle controls then. suzuki name officiall for this is Failsafe mode, CEL glowing , is it?
the check engine light on? ( ignored?)
3: engine power way to weak even egr valve stuck open.
#3 has vast causes... huge? we do simple tests to avoid guessing all 50.
this is pure physics:
engine weak, or idle controls dead.
do tell if engine has full power up hills. (kinda key that)
do tell if you press throttle its easy to get normal 800 rpm. or more.
cheers !
slow , in park or drive or what gear?
slow is engine hot or cold.
Slow idle has over 50 causes.
we use Occam's razor .https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occam%27s_...
to solve systems this complex.
engine EFI spark.
to use occams , we subtract what it cant be.
its probably not the transmission> back, bad,
and is in fact and engine problem.
(we narrowed the field now, it's now flat tires)
so what savvy tech does. is do tests and to gathers evidence, to do more razor cuts!
see? until your at clause 1 of 50.
but you can guess or test,
there is no other way.
Ive see DIY spends thousands, and the buy a scan tool and behold, more evidence and even the cause.
my wild guess now.
the spark plugs are no good and you didnt notice the gross misfirng and shaking engine.
free Evidence,3:
if you gently press throttle can you get a normal idle speed, say 800rpm>
and is it a smooth idle.? or misfires.?
so we can't help you much lacking all these facts and full symptoms.
we dont have the 1.2L here.
so cant get too savvy.
now physics answer:
bad engine. misfires bad or too weak. (huge list of causes here)
bad spark , misfires.
bad fueling too weak and runs slow or floods and fouls spark plugs and runs slow
ISC not working (air supply)
ECU in limphome mode and idle controls shut down on purpose. scan it, no scan it again.
