Re: Large and small evac leaks? Truck dies at idle/stop...
If the problem is when you have your foot on the brakes at the lights ,I suggest that the vacuum leak is from a faulty brake booster
a simple test is to apply the park brake and not use the foot brake and if there is no problem then it is the booster.

It's the EVAP system. Code is for an open or short to ground in the gas tank vent valve. Pin hole in tank might cause a P0442 for a small EVAP leak, if the hole was large enough.

I guess I will start with asking why you changed the crank sensor and the TPS ? Usually when the engine is stalling at stop signs the problem is a dirty throttle body or a problem with the idle air control valve. If the check engine light is on it should have a code unless the PCM is failing. I would try another scanner next to make sure the computer does not have any trouble codes.
Try shifting to nuetral at stop signs for now. Will it keep running in gear with you foot on the brake? How about with the parking brake? You may have a simple vacuum leak at the brake booster.

Well if you start your car and its dieing at a stop sign. That usually means you have a bad alternator. Your alternator is wat charges the battery when the car is on, and the more you eccelerate the car, the faster the belt spends on the alternator and the more juice is pumped to the battery. So I would have your alternator checked out. Im pretty sure thats why your stopping at stop signs. As far as the smoke and the smells gassy. You have t remember its an older carborated truck, so its going to smoke out of the exaust and its going to run a little rich, which is why your smelling gas. Now you much determine if its smoking to much and your smelling to much gas. Try having a tune up done on the truck. Spark plugs, oil change, air filter change and if your still having those issues take it to a muffler shop and have them check the catalic converter
Bought a use 03 last week for very cheep because it was idling rough, read in a forum about focus vacuum leaks and to use small burst of starting fluid to find the leak, spray around engine, if you hear the engine level off and run smooth in a particular spot for a few seconds the leak is in that general area, check the hose in that area, i found a large elbow on my pvc valve line was cracked in half, repaired with copper plumbing elbow fitting and silicone. now runs perfect. be very careful with the starting fluid short burst in well ventilated are.
