Hi i have a toyota estima lucida diesel and it chucks smoke out the back not white tho just had the head done and is a bit chuggy but once its got up to running temp is fine what could be the problem. and what type oil should i be using?
Is the smoke black-ish ?
It could be the fuel filters are dirty..
The oil cap might have the recomended oil on the top.. Or in your manuel..
To be sure - call you local discount auto parts store - and they will tell you..
Hope this helps !!
Please rate me good ;o)
I have had the same problem and am fairly sure it is the glowplug not working (I haven't tested it yet). The cylinder with the dead glowplug keeps filling with fuel until it gets hot enough to start burning it, in which case it is very rich and therefore smoky. Once it runs for a while it burns the excess fuel off and runs fine. If it were any other cause the engine wouold not retain its normal power etc when hot. The lumpy running indicates that it is related to one or two cylinders only.
