95 montero sputter and loses power when gas padel is push hard

If there is a check engine light take it to a auto parts store to double check what i think it is. If you O2 sensor has failed or your M.A.S. sensor (mass airflow sensor) has failed then your engine will not regulate fuel properly.

95 montero sr

Do all the warning lights in the instrument cluster come on when you turn the key? If Yes, then you need to check the neutral safety switch on the side the transmission[Automatic in your Montero?], as these are a known failure part for higher mile Monteros. You lose power to the starter solenoid as a result of the switch contacts going bad. Have someone put a test light on the solenoid wire at the starter motor, while you or a friend carefully tries to start the engine. If the circuit is working correctly, you'd see the test light turn on brightly. I'm betting you'll see no light, since I suspect the switch isn't letting power through.

A/T light montero 95

Something in the transmission was damaged or broken going up that very sharp hill, when it almost died. The A/T light flashing is the vehicle's computer has sensed something malfunctioning, and is flashing because of that..It has a diagnostic trouble code stored in it.More than likely, the trans is going to have to come out to be repaired.I would remove the trans pan first.Relatively easy to do,and if inside the pan there are chunks or sizeable pieces of metal, then there is definitely damage internally.
