1978 corvette battery hooked up backwards now wont start at all

You didn't list any details of what you tested, found, or replaced, if any. The first place that I would start is at the battery and the starter. Look for a blown in-line fuse or fuseable links. These earlier made cars were pretty simple but they were still using some polarized transistor circuits. While you are inside the fuse box (checking for blown fuses), please check for damaged diodes. I don't think your car has any but just in case. If you don't know what they are. Diodes look like a blade fuse but are black and have an arrow on the top of it. If you write back please clarify your description. I don't know if you mean to say that your car will start and run if you by-pass the ignition system. Sending voltage the wrong way can damage so many parts. It can fry the alternator, the ignition control module, wiring, in-line fuses, fuses, diodes, and the radio. This repair will take some time. Please let me know if I can answer anymore questions. Please be as specific and detailed as you can, Good luck.

1980 corvette radio wont work

Is the radio original equipment or a more recent model? Sometimes newer models have in-line fuses which may be located somewhere between the power source and the radio. Also check to see if power is crossing the fuse, i.e. before and after the fuse.

I have a 1980 corvette and no power to the blower fan switch?

I had the same problem on my 80 vette several months ago. The blower relay is located on the firewall top side (engine compartment, passenger side). It is a silver rectangle about 2"x1"x1" . Pull out the wiring plug and check to make sure it hasn't melted due to a loose connection. NAPA sells a new plug that can be spliced into the wiring harness. Let me know if you have any questions.

Location of fusebox on 1980 corvette

Fuses are located in the junction box below the instrument panel to the left of the steering column. The turn signal flasher and hazard warning flasher also plug into the fuse block. Each fuse receptacle is marked as to the circuit it protects and the correct amperage of the fuse. In line fuses are also used. Refer to the Fuse Chart at the end of the information for their location. The fuse block on some models is a swing-down unit located in the underside of the instrument panel adjacent to the steering column. Access to the fuse block on some models is gained through the glove box opening. The Convenience Center on some models is a swing-down unit located on the underside of the instrument panel. The swing-down feature provides central location and easy access to buzzers, relays and flasher units. All units are serviced by plug-in replacement. Location of Convenience Center on specific models may vary.
