SOURCE: radiator fans not working 1998 dodge caravan

First thing I would check is the fuse or the fan relay, located in the power distribution box under the hood. If that's not the problem, then I would find the coolant temperature sensor, unplug it with the key on and the fans should run.

SOURCE: Fuse location/ Cooling fan relay location

The relay for the cooling fan is located on the left side (north america drivers side) of the rad about half way down or near the top (may vary) there may be two relays or one, replace them both. As for the fuse location it should be under your dash (fuse panel) looks like a big silver fuse similar to a zippo lighter, it will be marked in fine print "engine fan".

Where do i locate radiator cooling fan relays and breaker.

you will need to trace this out with the use of a manual for your vehicle. either look online or go to your local auto parts store to find one. You may get lucky just checking under the hood for fuses and relays. in any case a multi meter will help but the best resource will be a wiring schematic as found in a chilton or hayne's manual.

To find the RADIATOR COOLING FAN MOTOR RELAY, we need additional information about your 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora 4.0L SFI DOHC 8cyl.
Please select one of the following:

The Radiator Cooling Fan Motor Relay is located: Under hood, passenger side, upper firewall, mounted in corner in relay block
When testing a cooling fan switch, first test it with the engine cold, then test it when the engine reaches a specified temperature. Check your vehicle's service manual for more directions.
To check a switch, disconnect the connector at the switch. with an ohmmeter, check for continuity between the terminals of the switch with the switch moved to the on position and to the off position.

To find the RADIATOR COOLING FAN MOTOR RELAY, we need additional information about your 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora 4.0L SFI DOHC 8cyl.
Please select one of the following:

The Radiator Cooling Fan Motor Relay is located: Under hood, passenger side, front side of wheelwell, mounted in relay panel
The continuity through a switch can be checked with an ohmmeter. With the switch open, there should be infinite resistance. With the switch closed, there should be zero resistance. With the switch off, there should be no continuity between the terminals. With the switch on, there should be good continuity between the terminals. If the switch is activated by something mechanical and doesn't complete the circuit when it should, check the adjustment of the switch. (Some switches are not adjustable.) If the adjustment is correct, replace the switch. Another way to check a switch is to simply bypass it with a jumper wire. If the component works when the switch is jumped, a bad switch is indicated.
Voltage drop across switches should also be checked. Ideally, when the switch is closed there should be no voltage drop. Any voltage drop indicates resistance and the switch should be replaced.

Hi!!
Check the Relay Pack located to the left of the radiator (standing in front of the engine) there are 3 relays together, the one closest to the radiator, is the Cooling Fan Relay.
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa!!

Heater stopped working this morning on my 95 Olds Aurora. A/C also fails to work. Any relay or fuse I should check for first?

there should be a fuse located on fuse panel for heater motor( 30 A Green)....after you check fuse other possibilities are bad fan motor...bad heater resistor block.....bad relay...the resistor blocks are very common problems

Whar is the temperature sending unit on a 1997

Will the fan come on if you turn on the AC. This will confirm the fan relay and the computer are ok. If it still does not come on then the problem is not the temp sensor. If the car never gets hot enough the fan will not come on on its own. This would indicate a stuck open thermostat. The temp sensor should be located next to the thermostat housing. Follow the big hose on top of the radiator.

I drive an oldsmobile aurora 98 and it keeps over heating. I have changed the radiator and the upper hose as well as the heating hose. now it seems like the lower hose is gone. it seems I keep changing...

Based on the description, either the problem is on the water pump, the radiator fan or the hoses. If you have replaced the hoses or noticed that the hoses are not brittle and clamps are ok, then you can eliminate it as one of the source of the problem. Inspect the radiator fan if it turns on when you remove the thermostat. The thermostat looks like a small plug that has wires coming out of it and is connected to one of the radiator hoses. If it does not turn on it could be a problem on the relay or the fan itself. You may swap the AC fan relay with the radiator fan. If it still does not turn on then it is a bad fan. If it turns on then, have the relay replaced. Other than that your water pump for the radiator needs replacing. It may not be circulating water correctly.
