It may not be leaking yet, but that is a sign the heater core is going out. If not there could be a hose leaking onto the engine causing the coolant smell to come in through the vents. Check engine coolant level and look for leaks in hoses.

No leak and 2003 nissan xterra smell like anti freeze check radiator, water pump.hoses.heater core.anti freeze level in radiator is perfect

If you can smell, then you have a leak,if the heater core has a pin hole, then the box that houses it will hold the antifreeze to wear you won't see any, have to take the box apart and see, check your hoses going thru the firewall to see if there leaking.

Bad water leak probably heater coil

Sometimes, not the heater coil...this leak usually smells inside the cabin...can you see anti-freeze build up anywhere? These motors are more prone to a water pump leak (needs replaced, inexpensive and not to difficult) or the intake manifold gasket...more costly about $400. for a mechanic to do...you should see some anti-freeze build up around the intake bolts...this assumes that there is no water in your oil...which is far more costly as this indicates an internal cylinder head leak...Could be just a hose leak...a bad radiator cap...or thermostat housing leak, (maybe a cracked housing? Help me help you...do you see any anti-freeze build up anywhere? Hope this helps.

Strong smell of anti freeze inside with windows fogged up

You need to check your heater core, these commonly leak which will let anti-freeze into the cabin and can cause you engine to overheat and cause damage to the motor. Check the carpet in the footwells for moisture.

Anti-freeze smell inside car interior when engine is on, why? Could it be related to the interior air filter? There is no visible anti-freeze leaks inside the compartment, and none outside of the car.

No. the cabin air filter filters out the pollution from the outside of the vehicle, i.e. pollen, smog, ect. The number one cause is usually the heater core. It could be leaking or a loose hose might be causing it.

I get a smell of antifreeze when I put the outside

Firsdt check the radiator cap thats it tight , then check for any anti freeze visible on the engine, then check under the car for any leaks. Is the smell of anti freeze inside the car ? , check the heater core you may have a leak there. the newer heater cores are aluminum and certain anti freezes, are extra acidic , which causes the anti freeze to eat at the heater core causing leaks, it maybe be a pin hole leak in the heater core ,causing the smell.

2004 Envoy Smell like Anti-freeze when turn on the air

probably is a small seep in the heater core. does not have to be leaking enough to find any inside the car to have a strong smell in there just a small seep that makes the heater core wet will do it.

Windows fog up,small anti-freeze smell

The early sign of a heater core leak is the smell of coolant, the reason is that only vapor is leaking now, it will gradually get worse in most cases and coolant will start comming out the heater box condensation drain.
