It appears to be that the radio clock display has malfunctioned, and is due for a replacement radio, which could be an aftermarket or oem radio, maybe found at a junk yard.
Tools required for oem replacement radio, torx keys set.
Before working on the radio or other electronics, disconnect the battery cables with 8mm wrench.
Replacing the oem radio is much easier, if you obtain oem radio, compared to aftermarket radio, due to being direct fit.
The radio is same for 1995 to 1999 Pontiac Sunfire and the Chevy Cavalier, regardless of sub models, such as SE,GT, VL,VLX,Z24. etc.
Parts needed for the the aftermarket radio install :Stereo assembly, stereo wiring harness adapter, radio antenna adapter, and dash install kit.wiring diagram for the wire colors / functions, along with tools, such as torx key set, screwdrivers, wire crimper, wire stripper, double ended wiring connectors, hair dryer.
The oem stereo removal video is for the 2000 to 2005 Sunfire / Cavalier, but are the same or very similar procedures.
They have kits to retrofit radios. Another thing that will cost is having the radio reprogrammed. Everything has theft lock on them now days. You would be better off to get a aftermarket stereo
A dash kit is not needed, just a little modelling but not hard at all. The Factory double din radeo is a little taller than 4in so you need to space it out with a slim piece of mdf on the top and bottom of the new radio cage. Then the trim plate around the screen will fill all gaps perfectly.
I had soved my problem... That was stupid.. The cause is that I tried to connect the (illumination +) and the (illumination -) wires togetter on the dimmer wire of my double din unit. That make a short cut and blow the litening fuse (fuse 13 on passenger side fuse panel). I replaced correctly the wiring, keeping the (illumination +) wire unused. That solve my problem but, however I get back my dash illumination, I can't adjust the lightning level... I thing I have a problem with the level switch.. It don't matter to me but if you get the same problem and solve it, please tell me your solution.
