Bought this car 2 weeks ago and it has been running strong. Has 40,000 miles. Anyways the on the passenger side smoke started flowing from underneath the hood. Shut my air off and it stopped but continued to smell. Idled fine and didn't overheat. Shut off car and it won't start. Turns over but backfires and sounds like ****. Someone put sugar in my tank or something? What the....please help
Forget the sugar myth.as both are carbohydrates and burn equally well. Turning the ac off reduced the smell so it was probably a belt slipping on a seized ac compressor . If that is the case then you will have to fix that . As to the "will not start" I suggest that you run the fault codes to check on cam/crank position sensors. I do not believe car mileage from second hand dealers so I would check the condition of the timing belt/s as well

try haviing your alternator checked advance auto parts can check it while its on the car and the can check the battery too. if thats not it it may stall due to a loose battery connection or a loose ground strap. if it stalls and everything turns of (electrical) it may be a connection or ground strap.

i think its going to be the head gasket duto the way its leaking coolant. one of the water jackets maybe i would have it checked to be sure but it sounds like head gasket

to properly clean and test the egr valve you should remove it from the car. disconnect vacuum, elect connectors, and check the gasket surface both on the manifold and on the base of the valve. you will need to buy or cut a new gasket most likely. when you apply vacuum to the control inlet, you should see the valve lift away from the seat. I use brake cleaner and compressed air to spray clean and blow out the valve just to test it and then go from there depending on what you find ---- one of the vacuum switches that controls it or a faulty vacuum line is a likely possibility also ---- so you should check them also. a vacuum pistol comes on really helpful here.

sounds like conveter is starting to plug and is geting hot rain was coling it off after your car is running for 15 min or so slowley put hand by tail pipe and feel vapers coming out of pipe be careful it may be real hot if it is you have a bad conveter vapers should be just worme coming out not hot
