Im having problems with my electrical in my 1988 vw fox when i turn my lights on it my car dies and its killing my battery when its not running

is your alternator ok.
secondly, to test if there's a drain on the circuit somewhere, switch everything off,
disconect one battery terminal and touch the wire slightly to the terminal. if there's a spark,
then something is draining your battery. (its usually ok for a smallish spark and usually only once)

to test if alternator is ok, rev the car at night with your high beams on. it should be different from
what it looks like when you start it.

hope this helps.

1. My 88 Corsica stalls out mostly when I break for stop lights or signs. What could my problem be, and how can I solve this? 2. Also the ac smokes, it seems to come from under the car after being used...

I'm assuming it an auto trans if its stock corsica. Is it only when the car is in gear (drive 1, 2, 3, or reverse? IF so you may very well have a bad torque converter. And the ac smoking I cant really say, you will ned to look under the car when its running to pinpoint the issue first,,

1988 chevy truck battery light flashes when going fast and stops when slow down

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

If the battery light is on, I strongly suggest that you have the battery charged. It can be an indication of a weak battery or a faulty alternator. If the battery light still on after charging then the problem will surely be on the alternator itself. If that's the case the alternator should be replaced to resolve the problem.

If the battery won't hold charge even on a new alternator then the problem will be on the battery itself. It surely is in the end of it's service life and replacement will be necessary.

You may try to reset it to by removing the positive battery connector, letting it sit for at least 5mins. then reconnect it again. This will reset the system and can get the battery light off.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Charging stystem seems to be working..... But when ever the miss's gets inthe car to go to work, she will get 10 miles and the battery light will start flashing, then get solid and she will lose the head...

When this happens, are the gauges dropping or not working properly or at all? Check the alternator. May not be charging so everything is running off the battery. The battery is used mostly for starting, but the alternator recharges the battery, so if after driving for a short while, and alternator not charging, everything electrical will drain the battery. You can sometimes drive the car for a while when this happens, or if the alternator goes out completely, the car will not run at all.

Battery light is staying on. replaced the battery, alternator, and has a new starter, and serpentine belt

with engine control switch ON and engine running at amoderate speed, charge indicator lamp should be off, if lamp is not off, detach wiring harness at generator. iflamp goes off generator is faulty. if lamps stay on, check for grounded "L" terminal in wire harnes
