stuck in the dark ages four pentax spotmatics and a minolta srt101...phone camera is so bad you never could read it...will wait till high tech nephew gets home sat or sunday. If you need source and destiantion on a particular wire, ask and Ill give it to you till then.

I m not giving up yet...When I'm finished, you will have the diagrams. In fact, since its the same process to do one diagram, when I get it done, I will send you the complete diagram for everything in the car.
It makes no sense that I can sit here and look at what you need, and you have to keep looking. YOU WILL have this stuff!

  • Anonymous May 22, 2009

OK....Here's what I have done... I contacted chilton directly and told them that I am doing a wiring job on your car but that the pages in my manual are missing.....(white lie).
They actually do not have a single copy of the manual but may have the pages archived on micro fishies. If they do, they will send them to me.
This helps in two ways: If I attempt to copy what I have, important parts will be distorted because of the bend of the binding. Flat copies can be more easily sent and copied. so when you get them they may actually be useful.
I asked for all pages containing complete body...front to back.
Only problem is it may take a week or so.
Told Ya I don't give up that easy!!!

No problem...I wouldn't wait for me either...most people promise stuff and don't deliver. I am one of the "other guys" I do what I say. Glad you got manual!!!

Check the park light fuse before you condemn the headlight switch. Does the dome light come on when door is opened? Can you use the dome light switch on the dash to turn it on and off as well?

Headlight Switch

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ The headlight switch controls most of the vehicle's lighting systems. Many complaints concerning the lighting systems can be the result of a faulty headlight switch. For example, dim or no instrument panel lights, dim or no headlights, dim or no parking lights, and improperly operating dome lights can all be caused by the headlight switch.
Dash-Mounted Switches
f36-12.jpg A headlight switch. You'll need to remove the switch to test it. With the switch removed it can be tested for continuity and the connector plug will serve as a test point for the lighting circuits. First test at the connector.
In this procedure the terminals are identified as follows:
  • Terminal B = battery
  • Terminal A = fuse
  • Terminal H = headlights
  • Terminal R = rear park and side marker lights
  • Terminal I = instrument panel lights
  • Terminal D1 = dome feed light
  • Terminal D2 = dome light
Consult the service manual for terminal identification for the vehicle you are working on. If this is not listed in a separate chart, you should be able to identify the circuits from the wiring diagram.
  • Connect the 12-volt test light across terminal B and ground. The test light should light. If not, there is an open in the circuit back to the battery.
f_aee_cc14.19.jpg Testing for battery voltage to the connector. Reprinted with permission of Ford Motor Company.
  • Connect the test light across terminal A and ground. The test light should come on. If not, repair the circuit back to the fuse panel.
  • Connect a jumper wire between terminals B and H. The headlights should come on. If the headlights fail to turn on, trace the H circuit to the headlights. Also check the ground circuit side from the headlights.
  • Connect a jumper wire between terminals A and R. The rear lamps should illuminate. If not, trace the circuit to the rear lights. Also check the ground return path.
  • Connect a jumper wire between terminals A and I. The instrument panel lights should come on. If not, trace the circuit to the panel lights.
The chart below indicates the test results that should be obtained when testing the headlight switch for continuity. use an ohmmeter or a self-powered test light to test the switch.
Steering Column-Mounted Switches
On some vehicles it is possible to test the steering column-mounted switch without removing it. The test is conducted at the connector at the base of the column. However, on some vehicles it is necessary to remove the column cover and/or steering wheel to gain access.

1994 silverado illumination on instrument panel doesn't work, parking lights and tail lights do not work but headlights and brakelights work fine. All fuses are good. Is this a bad dimmer switch?

No. Dash lights being out could be a bad headlight switch, since the dash lights are routed through the headlight switch, not the dimmer switch. Park and tail lights also controlled by the headlight switch.

Doom & under dash lights will not turn off

Try this, remove the trim that covers the headlight switch, use a flat tip screwdriver and depress the tangs holding the headlight switch in place, pull the headlight switch toward you along with the wires, unplug the headlight switch from the electrical connection, if the dome light goes out, chances are you have a bad headlight switch. Good luck, Gary
