I have a 1995 nissan altima and I need to know the most easiest way to replace the drivers side power window motor/regulator.

  • rightshifter May 09, 2009

I already have the motors and regulators for all 4 windows from a trashed nissan. I also know how to remove the door panels. What I do not know,(without buying the book), is if the window has to be in a certain position to remove it and get access to the motor.

You could go to autozone or pepboys, they have a "Haynes" manual on the year, make and model of your car. In it, it shows step by step instructions with illustrations on how to remove the door panel and replace the window motor. This manual shows a complete how-to on your vehicle and retails for about 14.99.

2010 nissan altima driver windown went down but not up

Typically a window regulator, it has a lot of plastic parts that can break fairly easily, remove the door panel and while closing the window via the switch pull up on the bottom of the window. and then replace the regulator. if the motor doesn't help you pull up the window check the voltage going to the motor, if you have 10 to 12 volts then replace regulator and motor, if not replace the switch.

Should be able to use the same motor, looks like the regulator will cost you a $100.57 from the dealership .
Some vehicles you have to replace everything when a regulator goes out and then the costs mount.

1997 Nissan Altima Rear Driver side power Window.

Switch needs to be replaced. Its a common problem and isnt that difficult to replace. Once you get the door panel off, its pretty much unplug the old one and plug those wires into the new one

1995 Nissan Altima power window goes down but not back up

Dear Kim: From your description, it sounds as though you have a problem with the window regulator and/or motor it self. Nissan and most other manufacturers have now gone "unfortunately" to a cheap design which seem to be very prone to failures. The regulators use a small cable which runs on nylon pulleys and guides. The only point in which the actual force of lift and lowering is applied, is at the center of the regulator and runs on one track. The most common failure is when the cable comes loose because of a pulley or guide failure. The second failure is with the teeth on the motor. The motor and the regulator are available separate. They are not difficult to replace and do not require any special tools. Good luck.....
