Could be your brake fluid is low or your abs sensor is bad, here's a link to your sensor.

SOURCE: 2005 toyota prius abs brake not working warning

Hmm, I'm not sure what a main chip is but, there is a few reasons for this problem.

  1. ABS Sensors - there could be something wrong with a sensor and/or the wiring to them
  2. The wheel bearing speed sensor in a wheel is bad or intermittent which then tells the computer that wheel is traveling at a faster or slower rate of speed then the rest which in then the computer turns the abs light on.
Now when your warning lights go on, the computer sets a DTC code which is the key to helping solve this problem. If you can get the DTC (Data Trouble Code) from the dealership or from someone who can scan your can, I can better assist you in figuring out what's wrong. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Camry CE 2001: Changed the brake light in the

hi the rear high level brake warning light in rear screen ? works with the other two brake lights at same time when you press brake pedal with ignition on ? so may i suggest you check the other brake lights are working ? if not ? check these bulbs? reason being that from the symptoms you describe that high level light is staying on ? it would suggest that the brake light switch at the pedal is not operating ie not putting brake lights off when pedal is off and would suspect the brake lights have been on for some time and burned bulbs out due to the brakelight element in bulbs are high wattage if you check on what i have suggested? and is the case ? come back and will advise you how to adjust brake switch easy diy hope this helps? best wishes from the uk

SOURCE: brake vsc off and abs lights are on

Krafty930 with brake, VSC off and ABS lights on. You share a common problem with many Toyota owners. My 2003 Sequioa has the same issue. There is no solution. Dealers will replace the air sensors and then the computer all for $2,500 - $3,500. This will not solve the issue. The internet has thousands of complaints re this problem, but Toyota has disowned the issue and declined resolution, even for vehicles under warranty. The lights drive me crazy and I still don't know if there is a functional problem, a wiring problem or a computer problem with the VSC system. To date, I have learned of no reports relating this problem to vehicular deaths, so I really am not holding my breath waiting for Toyota to provide a solution. Sorry that you share this problem, but perhaps my response will help to stop you from "spinning your wheels" too much trying to resolve this issue.

well, a hard firm pedal, usually indicates a bad brake booster or a vacuum leak to booster or the vacuum check valve, on booster. TO TEST BRAKE BOOSTER; pump brakes several times with engine off to deplete stored vacuum. turn on engine with pushing slightly on pedal. you should feel the pedal fade away a bit and then become firm, but not hard. if you feel nothing at the pedal when engine starts the booster is at fault. good-luck !!

My traction & stability control warning keeps coming on, not all the time but occaisionally

You have a problem with the abs an there is a code stored in the EBCM - electronic brake control module . It could be any number of thing's from a wheel speed sensor to a wiring problem or the control module or the modulation pump . As long as the light is on the ABS is deactivated . I would take it a qualified ASE certified repair shop that knows ABS systems

Does the abs light reset automatically every time the vehicle is turned off and on or is there a way to manually reset it?

Hello
Whenever the ABS warning light comes on in the instrument cluster and it stays on it means the systems electronic control module (computer) has detected a problem in one or more of the inputs to the module, an ABS fault code is present as long as the ABS light is on. So what must be done to correct this? You must have the ABS electronic control module scanned with a special tool to read the fault code, then a trained technicain will diagnose and repair the defective part or wiring. Most times this is a wheel speed sensor (one for each wheel) that gives an erratic signal. While the light is on all you have is regular non-ABS brakes. I assume here the light is on all the time? Until the problem(s) are fixed that are keeping the light on are repaired it will no go off, it can't be reset manually.

How do i reset my abs warning light on my 2000 pontaic montana?\

ABS light on - means your Brake ABS system is not working.
Some autoparts stores, like AutoZone will scan you car for error codes. I recall that they can scan for engine and chassis codes, like the ABS system. They can also reset the light.

The bad news is that when the ABS light stays on, there really is something wrong with your ABS. You should get the car scanned and an estimate for the repair.

The anti lock brake light and regular brake lights are on, in my 2001 mitsubishi montero limit truck what does that mean

Hello,
First this means you should not drive it until the repairs are done. Your brakes very well may not respond with both warning light indicators lit up. So one light is for your brakes and one is for your ABS system. The ABS light on means there is a malfunction in your ABS system. A sensor or something in the wiring. Now this light on alone indicates the need for a repair but the car could be driven temporarily. The ABS system makes your brakes fluctuate so "locking up" is avoided. The Oil light itself means something in your brake system is malfunctioning and hydraulic compression could be lost anytime. Both together is not good. I recommend first you check the brake fluid in your car. If it is below what it should be then this alone could set the Oil Light on. A brake light out could set your ABS light indicator on as well. So check the two things and if you are lucky this could fix each light. If not then you need to have this addressed by a auto technician as soon as possible.

ABS and Brake warning lights on together

Space saver spares are only designed to use in an emergency to drive at LOW speed to the nearest repair shop to get the standard size tire repaired or replaced. They are designed to not leave you stranded, not to use as a long term/high speed replacement. Repair or replace the flat tire, put it back on and if the lights do not go out on their own, reset them or have them reset. Most auto shops and parts places (O'Reilly's, NAPA, etc.) have the programmer to reset them. Most of the time they will do it for free.

The light can be reset by disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes....this will also reset your radio time, and anything else electrical.

I would recommend however, taking the car to a dealership if the warning light is tripped again, just for safety precautions.

Good luck, and God Bless!

MY ABS LIGHT IS ON MY 2005 CHEVY EQUNIOX

You need to check the brakes for worn pads, pads have a small piece of steel that will screech big time warning you that the pads need replace ment. but the fact that the ABS light is on may mean more is wrong with the brakes. If only the ABS light is on. It can still be driven to a shop. But if both the ABS and the Brake Warning lights are on, the car shouldn't be driven. Take the car to a shop to get the breaks repaired . If only the screeching noise was occuring, then you could replace the pads yourself. but the ABS light means that the brakes have some wrong other than just the pads.
