The dash light has stopped working in my 2003 Ford Escape, so I cannot see the dash at night-is their a light bulb that needs replacing, and if so how do you find it?

all those radio .ketless entry all inside are run by a body control module that is locator under the dash in the center behind the radio. do not confuse it with the ecu, the ecu is under the hood
if you feel grinding then you have not properly installed the pads
the abs sensor is in the same area so maybe you damaged or partially loosened the sensor
The smell is from the field windings in the alternator getting to hot .It sounds like your alternator is getting ready to go out on you .Please have it checked soon or the car could leave you stranded on the road.
First solution would be to check the fuses. Commonly, the low and high beams are on separate circuits. Dont forget the interior and under hood fuse boxes. Use your owners manual and the fuse cover to find the right one. In some cases, there is a separate fuse for each light, but I don't think this is the case here. Sounds like a fuse. If it is, replace it and if it goes again, take it to your Ford dealer, or a local mechanic.
pcm is under the console under the dash not the one between the seats. It's also called a gem module. Replaced ours to fix sporatic no start problem but didn't.
