01 mitsu galant do nothing, all lights on, chip key ok i think

Find a strip of white pasteboard (like the form used in the collar of a new shirt. Cut it in the shape of the chip key from the handle to the beginning of the key pin cuts (don't make it any longer than this; you don't want to grind pasteboard into the lock mechanism). Slide it into the lock several times to clean off any gunk that might have been deposited on the chip contacts. Clean both sides of the chip on the key with a paper towel or cotton swab dampened with rubbing alcohol, then dry it.
If it still doesn't work, you may have bent the contacts in the lock, and it needs to be taken apart for repair.

Lost the key, tried spare that realized only unlocked the doors in the ignition and the theft light started blinking. Is still blinking and now have original key but key wont turn in ignitionr

you can use the sbb key to copy a new one, Before running SBB key programmer, please insert the blank new key into your car keyhole;turn on ignition switch;Insert SBB 16-pin interface into your car OBD2 diagnostic seat. SBB key programmer copies chip according to car model, and it program key not clone key, it only needs to insert SBB. It is easy to do, you can DIY, if you don't know about the knowledge of the car repair, you need call for help of locksmith....

Have a problem starting from day to day. think a genric key could be a problem. runs fine once it starts. never had a key with a chip. disconnect batt. to reset computer and all is fine!!! how can this...

Does the starter turn over when you are trying to start before you remove the battery cables or do you have only dash lights and nothing else (not even a click). I don't believe you need a key with a chip for 2000 model, they have an ignition switch system that is basically synced to the lock cylinder and key. The ignition switch can go bad and you'll see the theft light flash on the dash. If you decide to install a new switch yourself, there is a 30minute process to reprogram the theft system to your key. It can be done by yourself, but you have to be there the whole time and need to have a battery charger hooked up while performing this operation.

Does a 95 Buick regal have a chip in the ignition key? Does it need a chip in the key to start?

1995 Regal has a factory "anti theft" type device. The way it works is the ignition key has a resistor built in, if you try to start the car without the correct key (with the resistor), it shuts down ignition and no gas will go to engine.

In case of a problem or clarification or my solution was insufficient, don't hesitate to post me a reply.

If you are satisfied, rate my solution with the "thumbs" or (even better) add a testimonial.

The shut down problem for 2002 cavaliers address a chipped key re-learn. however my keys are not chipped, any other solution? my cav has all the symptoms of the anit theft shut down

When the car was new it did have a chipped key. I don't know why they start sometimes without them, Faulty security? Anyway you will have to get a chipped key from the dealer or a hardware store. then do the relearn procedure. The procedure is , turn the ignition on for ten minutes, turn it off for five seconds, do this three times and after the third time the car should start. Make sure to keep the battery charged up because this will drain the battery. If it drains below 5 volts , you will have to start over.

Reprogramming a spare with only 1 original - 2004 Chevy Malibu

the ignition keys are not coded. no "chip" in them you should be able to just have a spare key cut and it will work fine. These use an electronic device in key cylinder that senses the proper rotation of cylinder and tumblers. so if someone tries to pry on with a screwdriver it will disable starter. when this is replaced it has to be reprogrammed
