99 ram 1500. When it rains hard or for a prolonged piriod of time truck is VERY HARD to start. Once I had to jump start because ran the battery down. Once started runs good. now truck stalled cut out on the highway at about 65 mph. Pulled off the road and again took sometime to get unit to start ran first minute or so very rough, once smooth out ran fine. On way back noticed truck started to cut out again, but did not stall. Good fuel, good spark. Unit has 220,000 miles. Do I have a valve problem? Timing problem?

Check your Air Filter to see if it is wet, rain may be getting in the air intake.

I have a 1998 dodge ram 1500 5.2. It has a

sounds like you have a bad alternator the alternator generates power from the engine which in turn keeps the spark plugs firing (and all other electrical components) the higher the rpm the more power you can generate up to about 3500 rpm or so I suggest removing the alternator and bringing it to your local auto parts store to have it tested I would also bring the battery and have it charged since you don't want to put a new alternator with a less than full charge on the battery (you can damage it) WARNING:On older vehicles it was common to check the alternator by starting the engine then removing the battery terminal ... (if the engine died the alternator as bad) However on newer vehicles you could damage more important and expensive electrical components including the computer or brain of the vehicle.

99 dodge ram electrical problem

Hi
Clean battery cables and battery posts. If that does not work you probably need a new battery.

99 Dodge Ram 2500 4WD turns over, wont fire

I had a similar problem and believe it or not it was the CAT. An easy way to test for this is to remove the O2 sensor right in front of the CAT. Once you removed it, plug it back in while unscrewed from the exhaust pipe and start up the truck. If it runs fine, the CAT is your problem. This is just a guess and it would be an easy and very cheap($0) test. You did not say if the truck was diesel or gas. Mine is gas that was exhibiting the same problem as yours...good luck!
