The security module is located in the dash behind the glove compartment. You cannot disconnect the security module without bypassing the starter wire. The system disarms by unlocking the front doors or tailgate with the key or using the remote key fob. The switches on the door latches are notorious for going bad on the grand cherokees. These switches are inside the doors attached to the lock cylinders and cost about 40 bucks at the chrysler dealership. You can also get a replacement remote fob on ebay but they are around 50 bucks and you will need the owners manual for the Jeep to program it.
try rocking door while constantly locking and unlocking with remote -if no good -remove your spare wheel and remove trim-can reach mechanism and manually lever open with a screwdriver
There is a security feature that will allow to go for a short distance but will stop. It is basically the same as the alarm, when you lock your doors, and then shut the door as you exit, there is a red security light that will blink in the dash. If you manually unlock and open any other door besides the driver door, the alarm will go off. To disable the alarm you have to cycle the key in the driver door. The same goes for the security feature. Cycling the key in the driver door lock manually, should disable the security feature until the doors are locked again. There may be a problem with the remote if you use it instead of you key to unlock your door.
in the 1994 jeep the anti theft device can be over riden by using key lock/unluck back hatch open and close, then start engine as usual. each time u lock or disconnect battery u must do it again.
The problem you have posted suggests that the rod that goes between the latch and door handles has fallen off. Without destroying the inside panel on the door, see if you can somehow get a wire down to the latch assembly through the window opening to get it open, then take apart & repair.
use the driver door lock with the key or the rear door. Put the key in them and unlock them..Both doors have a alarm shut down. Give that a try and let me know........
You cant disable it realy..but you can use the key to unlock the driver door or the rear door. Both have a alarm shut down wire..Also that wire could be broken in the drive door boot...very common. The wire is purple and yellow..Touching the wire to ground shuts the alarm off. Just make sure if its broke that the end going into truck is the one you groung on the frame. Also locking the doors from the inside with the driver door open is what activates the alarm. That wire can also be found in the drivers side kick panel.....
i have same problem but when dors dont lock engine dont start
Just to be sure. Door locks will work if you use switch on door, manually, but will not work with remote key fob? Correct?
