Recently I have had my Front Left ABS sensor replaced on my 2002 Audi TT 2 weeks after the orange warning light came on. 1 week into driving around I started to hear what I can only describe as a whistle noise or squeak sound (hard to diagnose) when the windows are open it sounds like its coming from the rear. when the windows are closed it sounds like it coming from the front. At first i figured it was part of the ABS sensor problem but unfortunately the sound still appears. The crazy thing is when I press the brake while the car is moving the noise stops, when I press the accelerator the noise stops when I remove my foot off the accelerator pedal the noise appears.

Well had it fixed.. was a total suprise that aparently and i'll be brief as I didnt 100% understand what the machanic said. It turns out that some cables that were going into or part of the gear box or something were rubbing on the drive shaft.. releif doesn't even come close to describe how i feel right now.

SOURCE: I have a 2002 745Li

Hi,

If you are "stuck in the Mountains", then it would be relatively dangerous to go back down if the vehicle's computer senses any malfunction in the braking system. Even your emergency brakes are also giving a warning. Since your vehicle is experiencing multiple malfunctions, either the sensors are reading wrong inputs, there is something really big wrong with the car or the car's computer is having a glitch. If even after performing the below listed steps and the warnings are still there and/or you are not comfortable with the brakes, then it perhaps would be wise to seek qualified professional assistance and consider alternative ways of going back down.

In most cars, the on board computer could be reset by removing the negative terminal of the battery. Some requires that this be done with the ignition turned ON but engine not running. Likewise, there are some car stereos that will go into protective mode (security lock) when the battery terminals are removed and would require a "code".

On the brake, pls look under your vehicle, there could be sensors that were disconnected. For the brakes, they would normally be at the back of each wheel. Additonally, parking brake lights would also come on if the brake fluid level is below minimum or if the brake pads have reached a pre-determined level of thickness (or thinness in this case).

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

the brake pad warning lite will come on when one of the sensors at the wheels grounds out against rotor indicating pads are close to replacement.

SOURCE: '98 Windstar ABS and traction control lights after getting brakes done

Prior to the brakes being replaced you more than likely had metal to metal contact which can throw metal shavings on the ABS wheel sensors. This metal shavings stick to the road grime on the wheel sensors showing the ABS computer a false reading making the ABS light come on. On Ford Windstars, the ABS light and the traction control light are on the same circuit. A simple (and cheap) fix is to pull the ABS wheel sensors and clean them with brake cleaner or throttle body cleaner. Make sure you dry them well and reinstall. On the Windstar there is one bold holding the sensors to the back of the wheels. I recommend you spray some WD40 on the bold and wait about 10 minutes before removing.
If this doesn't fix the ABS light and brakes, you can have the ABS system diagnosed at a shop for about an hour labor. (Usally about $100)
I have fixed many of these type of problems just by cleaning the ABS wheel sensors. Good luck.

SOURCE: Steady squeaking noise after taking foot off accelerator

sounds like you have a pad rubbing on a disk/rotor, if you jolt the brakes does the noise go away? if so it's probably a pad loose

I have a 2000 Audi TT Quattro (180). Both my ABS and ESP light were on. I took it to my local garage who replaced a front wheel sensor which eliminated the ABS light. After a 30 mile drive the ESP light...

Check bearing and joint/knuckle on every wheel and even on the drive shafts, if there is lack/knocking, that could cause abs and esp light, because sensor doesnt give right information and ecu only records sensor fault but doesnt say why the infromation is wrong.
They changed the sensor but didnt solve the cause!!!

How do i turn off the 'epc' warning light on a AUDI ?

You will need a scan tool, or just drive the car and if it was due to battery once the computer finishes running its diagnose checks it will turn light off, this may take a week and some driving around. you could also have the computer scanned to see what code is stored and see if its due to the battery.

Mk1 A4 ABS warning light

I have a 2000 Audi A4 and the break wear sensor warning light come on for me too. It does not flash and is orange in color. I have asked the Audi dealer twice about it and they told me it's because the previous owner put aftermarket break pads on it, thus messing up the sensors. I don't know about the ABS warning and other than that I wish you luck on it.

Hi,

Thanks for using Fixya!

Sounds like you have an alternator problem. The alternator may have gone bad due to non use. Some parts inside may have rusted out and got damaged. Better bring your car to your local mechanic and have the alternator checked.

Have a wonderful day.

Esp light stays on and nobody can seem to fix it even audi help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got exactly the same problem at the moment. When the ignition is turned off the system resets itself and the light goes out but after a short time of driving it is back on again. Just had the problem diagnosed at a local garage. Apparantly a sensor in the esp system is faulty and needs replacing. Having the job done next week so can't give you any more info only that the sensor costs around £100 plus vat.
