That's an indication you need to get a new fuel pump. A little banging on the gas tank may start it a couple of times, but eventually it will not respond.

take a rubber or cowhide hammer and rap the bottom of the tank several times and then turn the key forward and listen for the fuel pump sound. If rapping on the tank allows the pump to run then the pump itself is going bad so change the pump if that is so.
There is no fuel pump reset. If ou rainout of gas you may have ruined the fuel pump.
The only manufacturer that uses a resettable intertia switch is ford. This will only trip in the event of an accident to shut off the power pump.
Have someone hit the fuel tank with a hammer while trying to start the engine. If it starts it's possible it picked up some trash. It may keep working if it starts but the pump will have damage and will need replacement. Although it will most likely start run for a few then die. If so just replace the fuel pump.
well if she ran it to long with no oil it might be locked up and might be able to turn it over if its not to bad. but you should still get power going to your fuel pump i would check all connection going to fuel pump and no broken wires. try even un plugging battery to see if there's a bypass
No, there isn't a reset. When you run out of fuel, after refilling turn your key on without starting the vehicle. You should hear the fuel pump working for a couple seconds. After the pump stops then try to start the vehicle. Because you could hear the fuel pump working, it is possible that your fuel filter is dirty/clogged. I hope this helps.
the fuel pump motor is lubricated by the gas in your tank when you ran out it sounds like the fuel pump motor seized and is stuck there. There is a little known thing that will get the pump unstuck if it's not burnt up . take a hammer, yep a hammer, have someone hit the bottom of the gas tank while someone cranks the engine, don't be afraid to hit it hard you want the fuel pump to feel the hit and loosen up,make sure your tapping the tank and not the metal strap that holds the tank up! That should get you going,
I would listen for the fuel pump(take the gas cap off and listen for the buzz when someone turns the key on), if no buzz or whine then have them crank the engine. If still no noise then take a hammer and hit the middle of the gas tank while the car is being started(make sure E-brake is applied)If it starts it's your fuel pump.
No switch. Take a big rubber hammer and strike bottom of tank while someone is cranking car. Sometimes this will make pump work until you shut it off to replace the pump.
bad fuel pump ,go to advance parts house buy bosch brand ,has lifetime warranty, comes with pigtail ,gm pump is 1 year. to verify pump is bad beat on bottom of tank with rubber hammer an pump should run.
