Replacing the fuel pump on a 96 Hyundai Elantra

How do you access the fuel pump? Does anyone have any tips/tricks? Can this be done yourself or is this something to leave to a mechanic. I am somewhat handy....recently replaced the water pump. I would like to know what I am getting myself into before I start. Thanks!

Replacing the fuel pump can be a diffecult task. just be careful. i believe that if you remove the rear seat there should be an access panel there to remove the fuel pump. if not than you will have to remove the gas tank. if you have to remove the gas tank then you shou have a shop do it for you.

hope this helped
please rate well

Where is the fuel filter located on a 2001 Hyundai elantra

That fuel filter is in the fuel tank, attached to the fuel pump. Not a very difficult job. Remove the rear seat cushion, then remove the access panel to the pump. Remove the gas cap to relieve any pressure. Remove the ground wire and fuel lines, then remove the filter.

Have a 2005 hyundai elantra that will idle fine but when you push the gas pedal it miss's so bad it won't even move.

This sounds to be a typical fuel issue. First place to check would be your fuel pump and pressure regulator to see if they are functioning properly.

Here is a video explaining the procedure if you will be doing it yourself.

2003 Hyundai Elantra to replace a fuel filter do you need to replace the entire fuel pump. Strauss is telling me yes and they say the reason why the car sometimes is not giving is because I rode the gas to...

Well Strauss told you wrong. You can replace just the fuel filter without replacing the fuel pump. And you are in luck because on your Hyundai there is an access panel which allow you to access the fuel pump without removing the fuel tank. Read the warnings and heed them. Work in well ventilated area with all windows on the vehicle down, disconnect the battery before starting this repair, and use every precaution to not have any sparks near where you are working. Click the link for detailed instructions with photos. Please be very careful and do not attempt this unless you feel confident you can accomplish this repair. http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17699

How do I change the fuel filter in a 2003 hyundai elantra gls?

The fuel filter is in the fuel tank attached to the bottom of the fuel pump... it's called a 'sock' and doesn't need replacing.

Replacing fuel filter

The fuel filter is in the tank on these models. You should be able to get to it through an access panel underneath the back seat.
