Check to see if there is an ignition module...they look like a box with a heatsink and a transistor on it...usually have a 4-5 pin connector that looks like a pentagon shape and is usually mounted to firewall....another possibility is the pickup inside the distributor...the pickup can be tested with an ohmmeter..The meter should show continuity between the leads of pickup...follow these leads back to the ignition module... Ignition module in not very expensive for this year of car...ECU usually will not cause this prob.
Hello i can assist you. Hello your ignition module will cause a no spark you find your module under your distributor cap.You will see two wires go into your distributor shaft these will connect to your pick up distributor module. To remove and replace this part you will need to unscrew the distributor cap lift off and remove retaining screws on the module once you have removed this replace it with your new module reinstall your distributor cap and start.
I think you need a coil modulator.
It's a small flat black transistor device located near the coil unit.
they cost about 20 bucks.
Also check all the ground connections you can find.
If I helped you somewhat give me a vote.
Thanks,Gary
to test whats wrong you need a test light 12 volt. It's an ice pick like tool with a clear handle and a ware with an alligater clip. hook the clip to ground near the ciol then with the key on the ciols small wires will be hot ( lights the light ) unplug the small wire plug at the coil and one wire will be hot the other cold. the one thats cold connect the test light and reconnect to the coil. crank the engine before cranking with the key on it should be lit cranking it should flash off and on quickly. All of this presoposes that the battery is well charged and cranks the engine good. if it just stays on then you need to verify that the distrubutor is turning, ( cap off look it it with it cranking it should turn if not the timing chain whent out. no flash and the distrbutor turns the crank senser 9 DISTUBUTOR PICKUP OR THE INGTION MODULE failed any of the wires can break too. Most auto parts stores can test the module before you buy a new one. module failure is common well motor no start. the pickup is not as common and if your not a regular mechanic then changing the distrubutor is easier. make sure that you put the new one in the same as the old one or it won't run. turn the engine till the rotor points straight to somewhere (front) pull the old on watching it turn as it comes out so you can turn the new one in at the same place put the cap back on and fire it up. The rebuilt distrubutor will have a new pickup and module. The coil can fail but not like a light switch. if the the ciol has power and the other side flases and theres no spark the coil is bad.
