Toyota corolla dome light not working

The interior dome light only works on setting "on" and "off". On the "door" setting it remains on no matter whether a door is open or closed. I've checked all the doors with the same results.

Look closely at the cover. You will see a small slot. Insert a small flat blade screwdriver, and pry it off. Very easy..

SOURCE: the open door warning light indicator does not go off .

There is a problem with the door switch the door is not pushing the switch in completely. Here is what you do close all the doors, then you open them one at a time with all the other still closed. start with the drivers door. open and look for the pin with that the door touches when you close its on the bottom close to the back of the driver's seat it has a black rubber covering it. Press with your thumb in and see if light goes out. Check all other doors in the same way you will see which door switch is not being pressed in completely when door closes. If you find it a quick fix is to pad the area on the door that makes contact with the switch to push it in, for example you can use one of those round sticky cushions that you use on the metal chair legs to prevent them from scratching your wood floor. However if you can solve the problem in this way you may have to take it to electrical mechanic or I will be able to provide more help. contact me and leave me a feedback. Good LUCK

SOURCE: removing door panel in 2000 toyota corolla

remove phillips scew and the door handle. remove padded arm rest on the door by lifting it up, and remove 2 screws. You can use a panel tool to remove the plastic toggle like pins holding the panel border in. Be as gentle as possible they may break due to becoming brittle.

Dome light will not go off unless all of the lights are turned off manually.

Dome light means your refering to the interior light then if so look at the door switches as one of them is damaged or fallen apart and touching earth causing the light to stay on ,most like switch to fail is the drivers door as this gets the most use .

Roof light doesn't work properly. It flickers when I press on it and goes off when I let go. How can I replace the bulb ? Can I just pry the cover off? How? I don't want to break the hinge, if there is...

My best advice is to replace the filament bulb with this

http://www.amazon.com/Corolla-interior-TOYOTA-upgrade-Intensity/dp/B000LJF26W

it is a interior dome light led replacement bulb made for your vehicle, it costs about 20 bucks, but will never need to be replaced again.

manufacturers are trying to use led's now rather then bulbs due to the no maintenance required factor in their oem books

I have a 1997 toyota corolla that one of the chimes (seat belt, key ignition or lights) just started dinging and won't stop until the car is turned off.

Get in the car, make sure your dome light is set to door-operation.
Close all the doors, does the dome light go out?
If so, it's not the door ajar chime. If not, one of your door pin switches is defective.
Buckle your seatbelt, does the seatbelt warning light on the dash go out?
If so, it's not the seatbelt alarm. If not, it's the seatbelt buckle receiver.
The light warning works with the key off, so it is not that since turning the car off would not stop it.
Last thing it could be is the ignition key alarm.
I have seen a few malfunction over the years.

Non-functioning dome light

These have contacts that seem to wear out before the life of the car is up. I bought a used one off EBAy and replaced it. Check the switch integrity - make sure the contacts connect.

Door open light switch problem

First check to see if voltage is actually going to the bulb at the "dome" light etc. when you open the door... Then check to see if you have proper ground at dome light.. If not check wiring harness to the switches at door usually located in the door jam area.... remove switcvh and inspect for missing wires that go to the dome light some times the dome light is connected to a switch on the dash check this first....basics always first, fuses and connections then fallow the wire as a last resort..

1997 Toyota corolla - warning noise when lights left on - not working on drivers side!

The ground circuit for the driver side door switch is compromised, or the door switch is bad. Try this: Remove the black rubber cover from the door swich. Using a 10 millimeter wrench or socket, loosen & tighten the switch retention bolt. See if the dome light flickers. If so, the ground on the switch is bad, & just needs cleaned up. If not, remove the switch, and touch the wire behind the switch to the body,or the bolt hole. If the dome light lights, you need a door switch. Your problem is entirely in the door switch/ground/wiring. Hope this helps, and thanks for choosing FixYa.
