when you turn the vehicle on after radio shows message enter code, if it is the correct code after entering last digit of the code radio should unlock, if not suspect faulty radio and replace. or you have the wrong code, also try unpluging the battery and repluggin it to reset the radio
When this happens, with some radio's you have to leave the radio switched on (without trying to input anything) for about 30 minutes.
The screen swops from saying 'Lock' back to 'enter code', then enter correct code, failing that it will have to be reset at a Dealer.
I assume you have the radio code that came with the car????Disconect the battery cable and reconnect, that should reset the radio where you can enter the code. You will also have to reset the windows by holding down thw window switches once the reach the lowest and highest travel.the face plate on the radio should say code to be able to enter the code.
In the owners maunel you should have a card with the radio code on it.
The radio will only display EEE or OFF when the wrong code has been entered and the radio is locked depending on model - this is due to the battery being disconnected and the incorrect radio code being entered 3 times. You will neet to reset the radio. To do this the radio has to be on for either 2 or 4 hours - see the manual for your model. If you got the code from a card from Volvo, and it didn't work, then the radio has been changed or it has been reset by the dealer and your current code is invalid. You will have to pull the radio and find the serial & model number, and get Volvo to look up the code for that radio or the dealer may be able to lookup the radio code via vin# from Volvo. The dealer can reset the radio and enter a new code. When the radio is "ready" to accept an unlock code the display will say "codE". You will need this code if your battery is ever disconnected.
You need to be very careful Each failed attempt causes a long delay before you can enter it again. Follow the instructions exactly. You may need to use the car for a day or more before attempting it again if you failed too many times. The radio should say CODE not ERROR. Error means no code can be entered now. You must wait until the radio displays CODE.
call 1888mitsu2001, choose option #4, then hit * (star). give the
operator the last 8 numbers in your vin and they will provide the radio
code for FREE!
DO NOT PAY FOR THE CODE ONLINE OR GO TO THE DEALER (they will also charge you).
- you will also need to provide the serial and part number of your radio
(takes about 5 minutes to take apart an eclipse dash...1 screw in the
bottom of the HVAC panel) if you call the 1888mitsu2001 it will provide
basic instructions on how to accomplish this.
- if your radio says "off" (meaning you entered the wrong code too many
times) you need to put your key in the ignition and turn it to ACC mode
for approx. 45min - 1hr and then your radio will say "code" at which
point you can enter the code to unlock the radio.
