I have a 2000 pontiac grand prix gt and the fan speed control will only work on #5 setting and when I turn the speed to 4 or less it does not work and it turns off the automatic headlights and then I have to turn them on manually. I have replaced the fan blower and sensor and the control panel for all the switchs that have fan speed temp and where the heat or ac blows on feet front etc. No one seems to know what the problem is and also my rear speakers only work when its hot in the summer plus now the rear defrost does not work. Help me something has gone nuts. please help me!!!

Check your wiring harness where it hugs the engine on the right front side, because of vibration this area is prone to broken and shorted wires

1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GT; Elec problem with fan

Replace the blower resistor that is mounted next to the blower motor on the passenger side of the vehicle.
This will restore correct blower operation and I suspect it is also back-feeding voltage resulting in your electrical issues.
Two screws hold the blower resistor into the heater case and it is very easy to replace.
Good luck

Climate control switch does not work in lower modes only in high.

The pontiacs have an issue with the ignition switch, I have a 2001 grand prix that did the same. The ac fan would only work on 5 and the headlights would go off if on 1-4 replace the switch and all is fine.

2000 grand prix fan speed

i have been having that same exact problem with my 2002 grand prix for over a year now, and when my ac is on the lower setting the it doesnt work plus the headlights and lights on my dash go out. On Max everything works. i changed the blower resistor(about $35), still doesnt work. i changed all relays and fuses related to the ac, still doesnt work. i changed out the actual ac control switch in the dash, still doesnt work. i have changed everything but the blower motor and have asked every mechanic and auto parts retailer i come across and no one knows the answer. The best answer i got is that it is probably a wiring problem like a short somewhere.
