If you are smelling antifreeze inside the truck, it could be the heater core. Feel the carpet on the passenger side. If its wet its the heater core. A blown hose under the hood is easy to spot. The only other things it could be is a water pump, thermosat, or radiator. If the water pump is bad it will leak through the weep hole on the underside of it.
If no leaks anywhere, change the thermostat.

Toyota hilux 2.4D,done overall, white smoke on start

Is it coming from your exhaust. Does it smell like antifreeze? antifreeze has a sweet smell. That could mean a bad head gasket. Since it goes away after 15km, I'm assuming the heat expansion on the engine does away with the leak. It could also mean a lot of other things. Has your engine overheated recently?

My knock sensor comes on and thr car acts like it is overheating. Smells like antifreeze.

It is overheating. Find the coolant leak and repair it before serious damage happens. The knock sensor sets a codes because of the pinging of overheating.

Car overheating smell antifreeze outside the car

The lower end of the top coolant hose is connected to the water pump with a fitting that has an "O" ring . The fitting rusts away causing a leak. The fitting is secured to the engine block with two small bolts just past the end of hose. Remove the bolts and pull it out You will likely need to replace the fitting and "o" ring. Many head gaskets have been lost due to this. LOL

Antifreeze smell

If it's not overheating, you may need to replace the radiator cap. Also look for small leaks at all your hose ends. Their could be a loose clamp on your hoses.

Not Overheating, Smells like really hot antifreeze after I drive, a/c ok heater heats but when stopped air gets cold...stummped..thermostat?, Leak?

check your hoses and make sure its not getting low because when it gets low the hoses can get hot enough to expand and spit out antifreeze without overheating

My 2001 town and country limited is overheating without indication from the gages and has a burnt smell coming through the inside vents of the van.

  • This I understand, a burnt smell coming through your vents, but how do you know it is the engine overheating? You said you have no gauge warning. Is your antifreeze disappearing? In other words are you having to refill the antifreeze? Is the van stopping and steaming? Stalling? The reason I ask is if you are not loosing antifreeze something else could be going on. Antifreeze does not smell "burnt." Antifreeze smells sweet like cinnamon. Give me some more details like what going on other than the smell and how is this effecting the driving of the car?

Need to flush the heatercore

your heater core has gone out, thats why there is no heat and thats from leakage of antifreeze. Usually when you can smell burnt antifreeze it usually points to a blown head gasket or cracked head, smell your exhaust and if you smell antifreeze theres your culprit

Antifreeze smell

If u smell the antifreeze inside the car, the heater core needs to be replaced most likely. It is leaking inside, and will get worse, to the point of 'fogging up' the windows inside.
