Gages and warning lights jump and flash

It has 2 possible solutions 1) fuel sending unit is going bad which the tank has to be dropped to change, 2) you have a bad cluster panel. Hope this helps

I am not positive about my answer but I figured I would give my feedback anyways. It is possible that your alternator might be going out. In my experience, I had a '95 Maxima where, as I was driving, the battery and brake light would come on for a second and then it would turn off. A couple of days later, I needed a jump start. After driving down the road and after the car shuts off on me again (even after the jump), I realized that I needed a new alternator. Sure enough, the alternator solved the problem.

if it jumps really fast you probably have a bad gauge/instrument cluster. if it moves back and forth with a slower/normal rate of movement you probably have a bad fuel level sending unit located in the tank.

This problem drove me crazy for 2 weeks. Then the car just stopped running. It would turn over but it would not fire. I replaced the crank and camshaft sensors. That did nothing. I replaced the ignition switch and the car started right up. So if your dash indicator lights start doing a light show for you and your gages jump around or just stop working. Try replacing the ignition switch.

van not starting properly...there is a ticking sound...sometimes it doesn't start right away and the needles on the speedometer & other dash items start going back and forth

sounds like you have a bad fuel gauge sending unit common problem it is located inside the the fuel tank with the fuel pump Auto Zone should be able to pull codes to verify this it should say you have a bad fuel level sensor code

my 2003 s-10 did the same thing. my problem was a low battery.i put a new battery and have not had a problem since.
