Oil light coming on when full and making funny noise

The oil light comes on when oil pressure falls below 7 pounds of pressure. A tapping noise from the engine is an indication of poor oil flow/pressure supply. You may have an oil pump failure or if high mileage, excessive bearing clearances that can cause oil pressure problems.

This can be a safety feature the manufacturer has implemented in this vehicle. Make sure the oil level is full. Is the vehicle ,making any tapping noises from the top end? ( valve train noise) If oil level is ok, you may have a defective oil pressure switch causing your symptoms. If the engine is abnormaly noisey it is possible there is no oil pressure and further diagnostics will be requred

The oil light has nothing to do will oil level, but rather oil PRESSURE. If the engine oil is full and there is no rattling or banging noises in the engine, chances are the oil pressure sending unit is bad. If noises accompany the light, then shut down the engine and troubleshooting the engines internal lubrication system.

Somtimes drive belts can get a hard spot in them causing all sorts of funny noises. If the noise is related to engine revs, try removing the belts to see if it goes away

Is the check engine light on too ?
The check gauges light means one of the gauges is below normal. The oil pressure gauge measures oil pressure, not how much oil is in the crankcase.

Okay, the oil may have come on due to the engine stalling, when the engine dies out the oil light will come on and also you may get the battery and other lights but as far as the no start that will have to be the first problem to look at then when it runs the noise will be next. the first thing would be the fuel also make sure the oil level is full on some of the newwer cars the engine will not run when oil is to low, im not sure on yours but make sure oil is full first, the fuelpump may have gone bad, the first thing you need to have done is scan the computer for codes, the codes will help if there are codes stored by the computer but a scan tool will be needed to get codes, if you dont have one then the only thing you can do is a spark test, which you would remove a plug or coil wire and spin engine over to see if theres spark and the other test would be to spary starting fluid into throtlebody and then trying to start engine and if its a fuel problem the engine will start and then stalll once the starting fluid has burned away, and this will mostlikely be due to a bad fuelpump. if this is a sensor problem then without a diagnosic scan tool it will be hard to find that problem.

If your oil level is full, light is off and no abnormal engine noises, if should be ok to drive to the shop. If light does come on, stop the engine. I would also have the shop check your oil pressure with a manual gauge, to determine the exact oil pressure reading. This could save you from major engine failure due to low oil pressure. YOUR OIL PUMP IS NOT WORKING NEEDS REPLACED

if you have alot of mile son this car its worn crankshaft bearings. Try some oil additive this will help keep the viscosity of the oil up. if you have alot of miles drain a quart and add a quart

THE OIL CHANGE INDICATOR WILL NOT CAUSE THE SES LIGHT TO COME ON.THEY MAY HAVE LEFT SOMETHING DISCONNETED NEAR THE AIR CLEANER HOUSING WHEN CHECKING THE FILTER.IF NOT HAVE CODE READ(SHOP/PARTS STORE)
