I can't start my car, Key won't turn in the ignition pressed on brake attempting to release steering wheel but the ignition is locked can't release main brake or steering wheel to start car..... PLS HELP!!!
Is your steering wheel turned far to one side? Sometimes that will jam against the stearing column so hard that the key will be hard to get out.
If so turn the wheel hard to left and try to remove the key at the same time. Repeat this for the right also.
It has worked for me a lot.
Hope this helps.
Gear shift is not totally in the park position - had the same problem with a 2011 Acura TL - a rubber band kept the gear shift lever from totally seating in the park position.
I will have to go all the way to my Job inoder to try this again! The Break seems to be locked and I did push it up to see if this was the problem but it just didn't do anything; I had to get a ride home last night because of this but I will try it again .... Will it be safe to spray WD40 into the ignition key hole to see if that helps release it as well once key is in the ignition? Thanks for your reply....

SOURCE: key won't turn, steering wheel locked, brakes locked.
With the key in the ignition, tap on the key with something heavy like a pair of pliers, screwdriver etc. It will cause the pin inside the mechanism to drop, and the iginition will turn. Happened to me today, worked like a charm.
SOURCE: key stuck in ignition
your ignition have to be replaced focus 2002/7 have that problem and a lot more often if you have a lot of other keys with it,try some wd40 ,but if you do take the key out replace the ignition or you going to get stuck.

just replace the ignition it is only about 25 dollars or so and it should not have a pats system for that year you must have the key to get the ignition out though do you have another key ... the key must be turned to get it out and back in you can drill the lock and then turn it so you can remove it but if you are not comfortable doing this call a locksmith.. much cheaper than a dealer

SOURCE: ignition broken and want to bypass steering wheel lock mechanism-
its not that had to replace the ignition switch, remove the steering wheel, u will need to buy a ighition removal tool, push plate down, remove plate and the switch will slide right out.. go to advanced auto parts and they will tell you all the tools you will need to replace the switch, and they have a loaner tool program, so just buy the tool and take it back and get your money back.. good luck keith...
