2001 Chevrolet 1500 Suburban Brakes/Front makes funny noise

This happens when I either put on brakes fast (Just had brakes replaced) it seems to still grind. Then when I push the pedal to give gas it sounds like ducks underneath a crazy fluttering sound.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, go back to where you had the brakes replaced/done. Probable faults are:

  • the rotors were not cleaned completely/correctly;
  • some of the components are not aligned, assembled back properly;
  • a shim, spacer was inadvertently not re-installed, misplaced;
  • the new brake pads (would) need a bit of shaving/sanding.
Basically, a back job. Sorry.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

If this started happening after the brake replacement then the isses seem to be with the installation. get it checked.

I replaced front and back brakes on my 1996 1500 Chev Suburban. Bled the brakes starting at the farthest line. The pedal is soft and travels too far. Does not seem to stop very good. What is the...

it sounds like there is still air in the brake system that has not been removed.you don`t say if you replaced the brake pads and shoes(in which case you shouldn`t need to bleed)or you replaced a brake line(s) or wheel cylinder or caliper.you will have to keep bleeding the brakes all 4 wheels(trucks don`t use bi-directional braking meaning right rear brakes with left front and so on).bleed both rear brakes then bleed both front brakes,was this problem there before you replaced the brakes(soft pedal noticed) and this is why you changed the brakes or the pedal was soft and the brakes needed changing.its possible that the master cylinder has an internal leak and may need replacing.

I replaced the back brakes.why would the brakes feel like they are not releasing and they are smoking

Many drum brakes have longer shoe lining on the back shoes. Make sure you didn't put the shoes on backwards. The short lining should be on front.

2006 chevy silverado 1500 front brakes are squeeking

on disc brakes there is a metal marker on them that when the pads get low on material it will make a squeeling noise to let you know its time to change the pads.. so I would say you are in need of front pads also even though they look good you are getting low.. this marker is designed to let you know its time before you get to metal to metal .. jerry

1999 chevrolet silverado 1500 4.3L long box

it is almost impossible to solve without hearing it in person, but some things to check are the front brakes, front wheel bearings, tires, and loose suspension parts.

Clicking noise in front end when 4x4 is ingaged.

Have the front hubs and CV joints checked, that is where this kind of noise most commonly comes from.
