Hi I just got back from a long road trip. We drove 10 hours into the redwoods for a camp, my car sat for about a week and then we drove it back the 10 hours. There was some pretty rough stretches of hills (through Napa) and parts of Oregon. Now I'm having some pretty annoying issues with the car. When I give the car gas (in any gear) I'm getting a quiet but noticeable squealing sound, especially when it gets about 1500 rpms. On top of that and more of an issue is that I have VERY little power going hills. I'm generally fine in the city but when trying to drive on the interstate up a hill it's hard to get the car about 40mph. The car drives fine on flat services and downhill. Any suggestions? It is a 5-speed manual and I had the clutch replaced 3 months ago. Thanks!
Check the accessory drive belt.
I thought about that for the squealing but would that also effect power and acceleration? Is there an easy way to check the belt or is it just checking for frays and cracks.
Why not have a shop drive this, that is the best approch. Why guess?
That was going to be my next approach. Just wanted to check here first because if it was just the belt I could likely take care of it myself.

Check your temp sensor. sound like the ecu thinks the engine is cold and is choking the engine in an effort to warm it up.

Without knowing what the fuel pressure is, no one can say for sure. You'll need to check that. If you find there is a fuel pressure issue, you'll need to isolate the cause (wiring, connectors, pump relay or the pump itself). You will also want to inspect/examine the intake air hose, filter & vacuum lines to eliminate those things as possible causes. Additionally, you might simply have a throttle position sensor which is malfunctioning/going bad. You'll also want to scan your OBDII for any trouble codes which may have been set and which could help narrow down your search for the cause.

The check engine light usually comes on when there is a faulty sensor. or circuit. Sounds like you may have a faulty throttle position sensor. It would be best to have engine codes read to pinpoint exact problem area. Many part stores do this for free.

i think ur tranny started sliping then after reving it high, u must have over heated the motor causing it to puke out some coolant.
