Is this the 4.0L petrol engine you have, If so I reckon the most likely cause is the Throttle position sensor which is also fitted to the throttle body,

1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited starts and dies

sounds like the idling solenoid. this solenoid when powered by 12 volts, would let a small amount of gas to the carburetor or intake line which ever you are using. if it is a fuel injection, then there could be a problem with the computer that monitors idling.

you don't have an idling.

I'm looking to purchase an 87 Jeep Cherokee from an owner and he says that it has a vacuum leak somewhere. It idles rough when it starts up and dies when you first start it up. Asking for $1500 ob

Do you like the vehicle? Are you mechanically inclined? Vacuum leaks are sometimes dificult to find. It could be a vacuum hose, a leaking intake or a blown gasket. Spray around the outside of the intake with a carb cleaner spray, look for any change in the engine, when it chages you have found the area of your leak

Jeep Grand Cherokee shuts off at idle while stopped. RPM fluctuates then engine eventually dies.

your idle air control valve is going out located behind the throttle body.

My jeep will start and run but if you let of the throtle is drops the idle so low that it dies it is a 2000 jeep grand cherokee

most efi (electronic fuel injected) vehicles have idle mixtures which are controlled through sensors,.you probably have a bad sensor in the somewhere.. it could be vacume controlled one which controls the cold start switch to grab the airflow from the manifold.. more details are better.

Took my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo to the shop because it has been dying on me while driving also its been rumbling now i got it today they said they changed some parts but now its worst they took...

It has this problem at Idle? If this problem is while the vehicle is moving but not at Idle or when you rev the motor check your A frame, Connecting Rods, Tie Rods and Ball joints. You also want to check to loose lug nuts or a bent rim. If it occurs when it sits at idle check the motor mounts and bushings and the transmission mounts and bushings.

My 1966 Jeep grand cherokee starts and ideals fine when I press on gas paddle and then left off of it it dies

two possible problems come to mind,,,
1.) idle air control valve (IAC) is restricted
2.) throttle position sensor is out of adjustment

to test the IAC, find a vacuum hose smaller than the size of a golf tee anywhere near the throttle body and unplug it....then start the vehicle. if the vehicle idles then replace theIAC

if this doesn't help see a technician that can diagnose the concern further and look at things like fuel trims, MAF values and BARO
