Howdie check the fuel filter in the side of the carb when was the fuel pump changed?do you have external fuel filter on the side?check those things.

Go to www.autozone.com and click on repair info and enter in car info and then click on repair manuals and a manual for your vehicle will come up and it should be listed in that manual. Sometimes the diagram is on the hood of the vehichle rather than on the engine compartment but you probably already looked there... Hope this helps

Automatic I presume. 8 degrees BTDC @ warm & 700 RPM.
distributor vacuum off & plugged. In drive, & accessories off.
Don't forget parking brake on.

The mechanic should check the fuel lines or gas hose from the tank going to the carburetor and from carburetor going to the engine. and also check on the first or primary filter ,the secondary filter, the spray nozzle assembly and the carburetor . if there is a dirt it should be cleaned if there is a spare parts that is worn out it should be replace and if there is a corroded parts then clean it also .After it then also check if there is a loose connection of the hose then reconnect the connection of the fuel lines or gas hose should be tighten that it will not spill gas.But still don't forget to check the screws or the bleeder screws of the carburetor check if there is a dirt and if there is a worn out screw's or bleeder screws .if there is then clean it with a clean gas if there is a worn out replace it. the throttle should also be check if it is been stock there fore you have to repair it if worn out already then replace it.If the carburetor is dirty gas can't pass to the engine normally or some times no gas is going to the engine.That is why you should clean it or replace the worn out parts . But then you have also to check the gas that you are using to your car. If the gas is diluted or dirty then it can be the cause of the problem. Change the gas and buy or get a clean gas that is not diluted or dirty because sometimes dirty gas or fuel can give malfunctioning to the carburetor assembly.

I can't find anything on a motorhome application, but here is Dayco's chart for the serpentine belt on a 84-90 Surburban with a 454 engine.

You can only go by the truck chassis. Anything to do with the motorhome has been done by the company that converted it.

You need the details of the engine and chassis that they RV is built on. Normally something like a Ford F-350. Once you know that, you can search for parts and diagrams. Looks like a Chevy 454 P chassis. Then it depends on what hoses? A properly crafted search query can find most things.

I have a 1982 chevy scottsdale with a 6.2 diesel the 700 r4 transmission is smoked is it possiable to put a th400 transmission from a gas motorhome into my scottsdale?

The motor home motor is probably a 454. I have seen the 6.2/454 engine exchange so the transmissions should be interchangeable. The shifter linkage and downshift cable may need a little adjustments.

Vapor lock 454 chevy p30 motorhome

Its possible if you have a carb instead of fuel injection.
The engine would stall and have to sit for a while to cool off before restarting. The carb would in effect run out of gas.

1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 GM motors are numbered on the driver side as 1-3-5-7 and on the passenger side as 2-4-6-8. These numbered cylinder go from the front of the motor toward the back. Hope this helps.

You have a 1986 454 engine with an old style breaker point ignition distributor, GM has not used a breaker point ignition for their V-8 engines since 1974, is that an older distributor or something after-market?

The ignition points dwell angle for that engine should be set at 29-31 degrees dwell (a dwell meter would be the most accurate way to set the ignition points), or a .019 in. point gap.

The spark plug gap for that engine would be .035 in. and the timing should be set at 10 degrees before top dead center.

Please make it easy on yourself.....
If you go to Autozone,NAPA etc. most have diagrams on their computers that they can show you or run off for you. You could/should take a photo of the top front and bottom front of the engine to show as much as possible. Your 454 is the same as that used on Chevy trucks... so it is not something special!!

454 ci gm turns over hard backfires timing ok acts flooded

Check fuel pressure, and regulator. A leaking regulator gives a warm engine more fuel [ it does not like it] a cold motor does. same as a flooded motor. Good luck
