I have a mercedes c250td 1998 i can start the car with no problems but after a wile of driving the car just dies. i hav ebeen told it could be an air leak somewhere i have changed the fuel filter does anyone know of any other suggestions of what could be causing the problem. the car is restarting about 30 minutes after cutting out.
Renew all the rubber pipes that connect filter to pump ect ,now not sure here but i think you might have a small electric pump inside the fuel tank ?? check up if not then fit a pressure lift pump in line before the filter to pressurise as it might JUST might be the lift pump built into the injector pump is failing .Its a 98 so i think it may be a more conventional pump not common rail ... best i can think of at the moment without having my head under the bonnet ,dont forget these bonnets will lift up high so you dont clout your bonce on the grill .

hi,seem fuel pump relay is mulfunction, better to your fuel pressure,or maybe the excess voltage protection relay is mulfunction, fuel filter should check also,ty

hello, you have a 300 se with 103 engine (straight 6 cylinder) we have two possible cause of the problem, fuel and ignition side,on workshop they have a fuel gauge to check the fuel pressure (filter, fuel pump, fuel pimp relay) on fuel side, then for ignition spare plug, distributor cap, rotor, switching unit (transistor box for ignition side,ok, when your engine stop, try to hear from the rear,if your fuel pump motor is working,or you can remove your spare plug to determine what is missing fuel or ignition,ty

check these things thermostat, water pump, Main engine fan, Aux fan, strip fuse for Aux fan, Aux fan relay behind fuses in screwed down cover. Fuel pumps make alot of noise on these might want to check/replace check valve after them.
Also a tune up of coil, cap, rotor plugs and wires is always a good start.

Yes sir , you have a failing valve, soon it will snap in two....please have your head checked. You can do this yourself by placing a long-handed screwdriver , business end down to each cylinder while pressing your ear to the handle(while engine is running)...you will notice a definite difference when you hit which cylinder has the bad valve. Also makes sure the egr valve is clean and your exhaust recycle valve is not stuck.( located in the crossover pipe)

Probably two separate problems.
For the blower motor, it may be that the bearings are getting old and so the motor is getting harder to turn and overheating. A way to check is to take the motor out (it will be tucked in behind the glovebox. Pour a tablespoon of motor oil into the vents next to the shaft and work it back and forth to loosen it up. Then put the motor back in and try it. If I'm right, the motor will work normally again. However, this is only temporary--once the oil gets worn off the bearings in a while it will start quitting again. You should order a replacement before it blows your resistor block or (in the worst case) starts a fire. You can get them online, like from autopartswarehouse.com
