Hi i have a 91 dodge dynasty and im having transmission troubles

Have your TCP solenoid for transmission shifting checked to start

You have a problem with the bands in the transmission. They will need to be adjusted to correct the problem. Also have the transmission filter changed with new transmission fluid. Check the fluid level in transmission first,if low add fluid and test drive. If its the same as before you will need to go to a transmission place to have the bands adjusted to correct the problem. I need a little mor info. But the reason for the being stuck in 2nd gear is because when something goes wrong with the tranny. it goes into "LIMP" mode wich keeps the trans. from shifting out of 2nd when you are going forward. It does sound like your trans. is gone out though.

You need to have the transmission computer scanned for codes. It is likely in limp mode because it has a bad speed sensor.

You need to have the Transmission Control module scanned. You might have a bad speed sensor or maybe you forgot to plug one of them back in? You have checked all of the plugs to the transmission?

Could be your shift cable adjustment. In the engine compartment move the shift cable forward ( you can do this by hand) This will move the transmission out of low gear and into park. You will probably find you can now shift into the other gears without problem but if you go into low it will stick again. You might be able to adjust it or you might have to replace the cable.
