If fuel pressure is ok,the upper intake gasket is common on the 3.8 litre and so is the camshaft position sensor and the crankshaft sensor.you need to check with a scan tool for crankshaft signal, and any codes.if the intake has a severe vacuum leak it can cause a no start condition.usually the camshaft phase sensor will cause a rattling noise that sounds like a bad belt or tensioner from the passenger side of the vehicle.the camshaft sensor requires removal of the power steering pump to replace it.

it should be under the dash near the brake peddle, also a relay fuse under the hood. the fuel filter might have clogged up also. but you should be able to hear a faint whirring sound if the pump is working.

SOURCE: drive'n and i thought i ran out of gas /try to prym it

when low on gas the impuritys in the tank can clog the fuel filter, so if the fuel pump has air in it , it might not be able to overcome the resistance in the filter, replace fuel filter and try again

I know some old fuel injected systems will dump fuel because of the coolant temp sensor should be located on lower intake in the front. Also check the timing.

My 2002 chevy 1500 van , 4.3 liter v6, will not fire. ran great, no signs of trouble leding up to now. Cranks, cranks, & cranks but no sputter, fire, anything

I would check and be sure I had fire to the plugs and fuel to the throttle body. I read what you wrote about the fuel pump but then on the end of the description where you put gas in the van the pump might not be working. If so you could have a bad wire to the fuel pump or a plugged fuel filter. Once you verify those items I would pull the 02 sensor ahead of the catalytic converter in the exhaust and make sure the cat or muffler is not plugged. If they are it will put back pressure on the engine and not allow fuel into the cyl. to fire.

Ran completely out of gas last week - put gas in - car started fine- ran a little rough and idled rough. Now 10 days later MIL light on in dash and perform service message. Won't go out after several

have the fuel filter changed and have the computer checked for codes incase something else is going on and they can be cleared to turn off the light.any dirt in the lines should be out of them by now.its possible that there is dirt in the injectors and a fuel system service should be done to clean them which is a recomended service on all cars anyways.you can have the fuel pressure checked while its in the shop to make sure the pressure is within specs.

1999 gmc sierra starting back firing and ran rough for a couple miles before stalling and now will not even try to fire. any good place to start looking? Thanks 4.8l v8 w/ auto

Sounds like the fuel pump. Simple check put key in ignition turn to on position Pump should buzz. Another way to check use a rag and hunt down schrater valve on the fuel rail on engine. Wear eye protection put rag around bottom of schrater valve and press down on valve. Fuel should shoot up at you if not your pump is bad.

2001 PONTIAC GRAND AM SE, WON'T CRANK,RAN MY GAS LOW

Sounds like air in fuel line. Purge fuel line. By "crank", do you mean engine spins but won't catch? Try starter fluid in intake.

Ran out of gas......

Sounds like fuel pump burned out when you ran out of gas. probably ran dry for about 20 sec till engine quit. Check for power to fuel pump in tank. Most likely fuel pump will need replacement . Hope this helps

Ran out of gas and now she won't run!

i would say that you have a bad fuel pump or if you have a carb on it the float inside the carb is stuck check these and i'm sure you will find it's one of these.
