it's part of the door latch assembly , you have to take the door panel on the inside off .

Removal

1. Remove front door trim panel (23942) and watershield. Refer to Section 01-05 .

1. Remove screw retaining lamp switch (13713) to front door latch (21812).

1. Disconnect lamp switch from body main wiring (14A005).

Installation

1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order.

Replace the driver door ajar sensor to correct this, it is on the latch inside the door.

I think there was a headlight switch problem back then, it all go's through there.

Hello, you will find that on each door pillar there is a swich, you will find that when it is cold parts tend to shrink therefore your door light switches arenworking properly. Sometimes they need adjusting or replacing. I hope this helps.

It is likely located inside the door latch.

Check all 4 doors to see what works and doesn't work, be sure the interior domelight switch is set to turn on automatically when any door is open as well try the radio then open the 4 doors to see if it turns off...if your driver's side door don't work as you stated then that should be the door's "at fault".

GM built the door contact switch that's installed INSIDE the door-it's located inside the door striker/jamb area...it require removal of door trim to gain access.

However, you might want to try this visual inspection:
Check the thick wire harness located between the front-left door and door sill frame to see if any wire has been disconnected/cut or tampered with by previous owner.

your doorswitch is inside the door on the striker latch. You will need to remove the door panel to access. chances are it is stuck in the closed position. Your seatbelt latch sensor has also gone bad. It is located inside the receptacle of the seatbelt. If you only want to diengage the light, look for the molex plug attached to the wire coming from the seatbelt receptacle.

try jumping the drivers and passenger side door switches -jeff

my left one comes on but my right one doesnt hah hah its a small world..pluck off the plastic cover maybe a loose or pinched wire electricals are annoying to fix
