I was wondering about the position of my thermostat on a 2000 buick park ave, and the size of the bolts thats holding my thermostat housing together? I recently had someone take it out because it wasnt opening, I went and bought a new one, and I would like to put it back in myself. I know where the thermostat is located but i dont know if the way I put the thermostat in matters, or do i have to put it in the same position it was taken out of? Also what are the bolt size thats holding the housing together? I dont want to use a regular wrench and risk stripping the bolts I want to buy a socket wrench to use so if anyone knows the size of the bolts would really help! Thanks for all the help!!!

3.8 liter?

The thermostat will be installed with the spring part going into the engine. It really doesn't matter how the thermostat sits in the opening unless you have a thermostat that sits horizontal instead of veriticle. If this was the case the thermostat would likely have a small opening or hole in it which would sit at the 12 o'clock position. This hole will help bleed the air out of the engine once you start to refill it with coolant.

The bolts heads are usually a 10mm or 13mm.

Hope that helps. If you have any more questions I'll be happy to help.

Thank you, i appreciate your help!!!! This site is the best, im new here but I will definitely be coming back. If I have any other problems i would be happy to call on someone who knows a little more about cars than i do. But as far as this one goes you have definately saved me time and a little embaressment...looks a little funny to have a grown man ask the teenaged girl at autozone to come and look at his car to for bolt sizes!!!! Any how... if other problem do arise I will be back!!!! Thanks!!!

Hi yes it does matter which way it goes back in, and really it should only be able to fit in one way with the spring facing down, be sure to replace the gasket to with a new one, the bolt sizes vary from model to model, but if you are buying a socket wrench ( we call them a socket set with ratchet ) you would be better off buying a set as they normally have most sizes from 6mm up to 36mm, this way you are guaranteed to have the correct size you need, and possibly could work out cheaper in the long run...hope this helps

How do you change the driver name and memory for seat and mirror adjustment on a 1997 buick park avenue ultra

I am not sure about changing the name as my 2000 park ave. only indicates driver one or driver two. To reset the memory for seat/ mirror position is rather simple: with the ignition on and the car in park, adjust your seat and mirrors to the desired position. Then press and hold the desired button (driver one or two) until you hear a beep, This is the procedure that works on my 2000 park ave. I hope this helps you.

How to change the thermostat on 2000 buick park ave ultra

The thermostat is located under the cover that the upper radiator hose connects to on the engine, let engine cool and remove plastic cover over engine and then remove the 2 bolts that hold the thermostat cover down, replace the thermostat exactly as the old one came out, refill the system with the bleeder valve open on the top of the cover over the thermostat until coolant comes out as you fill, this bleeds our out.

Where is the location of the thermostat on a 2000 buick century with a 3.1 litre engine

Follow the top radiator hose to where it connects to the engine. The thermostat will be in the housing that bolts to the engine. To replace it remove the bolts and pay attention to the position of the thermostat as the new one will sit in the same position. Be sure to get a thermostat rated for the same temperature as the old one and use the gasket that should come with it.

I have a 1994 buick park ave. that is not getting enough heat

follow the top radiator hose from the radiator to the engine, the spout the hose hooks to on the engine is the thermostat housing, you unbolt it, pull the old thermostat out, clean the joining surface of the thermo housing and the engine block of debri (old gasket) install new thermostat making sure the spring mechanism on thermostat is installed towards the engine, put the new gasket in place and reinstall the thermostat housing.
