I am unable to get reverse in my Chevrolet Tahoe 96. Serviced transmission 9 months ago and all has been fine. Seems to be shifting a little different when going forward. Please help.

CarGurusJan 27, 2014 - Alright well normally I can feel my truck shift into drive or reavers but it's not but .... running while won't move,I mean it moves but won't change gear,fluids good ... I have a 2002 Mercury Stabler Car starts up fine but will not move ... I hear a pop and my tahoe stops pulling and no reverse either it just revs up.

Vehicle won't drive in 2hi in drive or 3rd will move with rattling noise in 2nd or 1st. ...maintain 60mph and when I crested the hill the truck no longer would shift into 4th gear.... Can feel transmission engage in all but Reverse. GMC Yukon, Yukon XL Transmission Problems

try reversing truck when you select 2 wheel drive ,this sometimes takes it out of four wheel
like a cone clutch .just need a little pressure off it .reversing takes pressure off hope this helps

Sounds like its time for a transmission filter and fluid change.. and BEWARE - If the transmission has not been serviced on a regular schedule you may not be able to drive away from the service shop..(THIS IS NORMAL for a GM transmission that has not been serviced regularly -- I have had this happen to myself once on a '96 suburban!!) If you need to get the trans rebuilt ..TIP - go to the local drag strip and ask several of the mechanics who the best transmission man in town is..(THEY KNOW!!)..use him!! It can usually be rebuilt for around $1400.. Good luck!!!

it could be the bearings in your transmissin. or you need an alignment

I would say you should re check if you have 2nd and 4th. If not you need to have the sun shell replaced in the transmission. this is a comon problem. I hope this helps.

Did you have it serviced or rebuilt, If you had it rebuilt I would take it back to the trans shop for warranty repairs.
If they just changed the trans filter I don't think it would cause your problem.You just have bad luck with the slipping trans
