When you "hot wire" an ATV with a battery is the same as leaving the key on 24-7. This is not recommended..A good locksmith might be able to help you resolve your "switch issue"
BUT.. the brown wire and the gray wire(both are ignition switch wires).. connect them and you should have power
Could be time to replace battery, this is most likely the culprit. These fourwheelers are very picky when it comes to low power. Your starter is also most likely just fine, the clicking you hear is the solenoid on the starter, so your battery has some juice, but not enough amps to turn over the starter. Also If the fourwheeler has sat for a long time then you may just need to charge the battery. The 2007 is most likely fuel inject which uses even more fuel when running and it also has its own computer kind of like a PCM in a car or truck. These all need a good supply of power and the stator which is like an alternator usually needs the help of a fully charged battery to keep everything running properly. Also note, once you get a new battery or charge it in some cases the ATV should run smoother.
its called thermal expansion you will find you most like have a connection that is just tight enough to work in when it cold but when you get it warm is opens a little snug down your starter relay connections and don't forget the wiring connections at the fuses also look for and clean all corrosion you may find
there should be a hole in your flywheel that line up with the screws and your coil loosen it up and you slide it back and forth hard to get it so far out that it wont start though if possible it would be easier for you to pull the flywheel then you can adjust it by hand starting the center and see how it does
