DeLonghi steam iron iron seems to have a loose toggle and the steam is difficult to stop. It will sometimes start steaming with just a jiggle of the iron. How do I fix this?

Question edited for correct spelling of maker name. Question moved from Watches category. Is it older than a year as that is the warranty on steam irons. https://b2b.delonghigroup.com/pdf-warranties/5718114000/5713226531%2011.15/5713226531%2011.15.pdf Have you ever descaled it? It may improve the seals on the buttons. If something has broken inside, it will be time for a new one. Getting inside them is very hard and there are no spares. https://www.fixya.com/support/r26134544-cleaning_laundry_iron ..

Heat element light comes on (so there is power) but the iron will not hear up

The Delonghi Pro300 has two thermostats that contact the boiler. One is a low temperature thermostat that allows the boiler to heat up to 145 degrees (F). The other turns off the boiler when the temperature reaches 180 degrees. It sounds like your low temperature thermostat has failed. The part can be ordered on line. You need to have good basic mechanical skills and the proper sized star screwdriver to replace it.

My iron exploded when I plugged it in. How can it be fixed?

You have a short in the wiring inside of the iron. It will not work until you get the short fixed.

My iron is pouring water

Fix your steam iron by addressing the problems most steam iron manufacturers outline you may experience. These manufacturers provide guidelines on how to fix these issues. They do not recommend disassembling your steam iron; this may void the warranty or cause damage beyond repair. If you can't resolve the issue on your own, contact the manufacturer directly for further assistance.

Instructions

Pour the water from the reservoir into a sink and replace with tap water. Using distilled or softened water may cause the iron to leak.

Heat the iron sufficiently before using; do not use until the indicator light shuts off or turns on, depending on your model. Using the iron before it is ready may cause the iron to work incorrectly.

Shake the iron back and forth a few times if the iron does not work, but is turned on and plugged in. Your steam iron may have an "auto-off" function that shuts it off after it sits for a period of time.

Turn the steam control higher if the steam function does not work. You may have set the setting too low to produce adequate steam.

Turn the steam control back and forth between the maximum and minimum settings a couple times to clear any blockages if the steam function continues not to function.

Although many different kinds of steam irons are available on the market, they all perform the same basic functions: They use water, pressure and heat to remove wrinkles from clothing. The basic makeup and parts of most steam irons are also fairly simple, so repairs aren't difficult. It is usually beneficial, however, to purchase a new iron rather than attempt to fix a broken one, but you can repair the

Unplug the iron, and allow it to completely cool down before beginning any repairs.

Inspect the steam vents from the outside, and use a pipe cleaner or other small utensil to remove any excess buildup that is blocking the vents. Be careful not to let the buildup fall down into the steam vents.

Clean the steam iron's directional spray tip. Minerals and other debris can build up on the nozzle over time and will greatly hinder the use of your steam iron.

Pour equal parts vinegar and water into the steam iron's water supply tank. Put the steam iron above an empty pot, and turn the iron on. Let it steam the solution until all the water/vinegar solution is gone.

Water trickles out with steam?

Try pouring the water out and replacing it with vinegar. Then let it heat up and steam it as much as you can to clean the holes and spray it if you have that option. Rinse it out by doing the same thing before using it.

I am unable to stop the steam at the iron. The

I would first try with household vinegar (empty as much water as possible) and if that doesn't work to free the valve, then something more aggressive containing acid like any of the Lime Away type of lime/rust removers. If it is still stuck, you may have to bet the iron hot to make the acid more effective. If using other than vinegar, I wouldn't advise allowing anyone to breath the vapors; do this in a utility room or basement.

That trigger probably acts on a needle valve that controls the flow of water to the point at which it is turned to steam and it may simply be too contaminated with lime buildup to slip back into the valve body.

My Laura star iron is continuously steaming and won't stop My Laura star iron is continuously steaming and won't stop

The steam valve may be partially blocked with scale so it doesn't close properly. You can try disconnecting the iron from the base unit and flushing it several times with the valve open and then closed. If it is possible to disassemble the valve, you can clean the contamination directly. You may also find that the seal or o-ring is worn out. My mother would use only distilled water in her iron, so she never had that problem. I see from the product manual* that yours is "designed for use with tap water" if the filter is used. There's probably a limit to how much lime in the water it will tolerate, but the manual says nothing about that. If the Laurastar Lift Xtra is less than a year old and you were diligent about replacing the filter when you got the replacement alert light, you may be able to get warranty service. *http://image.email.laurastar.com/lib/fe4715707564057e751572/m/3/75bb559a-f7e0-4d65-aa02-6d2bf912641f.pdf

My D2030 iron does not heat up the power light and the screen light come on but does not heat up

1...You need to check the iron settings as they have an adjustable knob that controls temperature as well as governs which kind of materials you want to iron. Different clothing materials need different temperature and other settings. Make sure you set the knob carefully. If you are unable to set the knob properly, you can check the user manual and make sure the temperature or heat amount is set at the right point.

2...Another thing that you need to check in order to inspect why the iron press is not heating up is the water reservoir. In some cases, if the water reservoir is empty then the iron press may not be heating up as much as it should.

For this, switch the iron off and make sure it is cool. Switch it on again and top up the water in the reservoir. Now try ironing again to see whether the heat is proper or not.
