I recommend you go to the Sony website and find if there are any updates for your blu ray player. If there are they will have you download the update, unzip the download to a new file, copy the file to your DVD burner, and install the DVD Update into your player, press "play" OK a couple of things and shazam! Updated! That is unless your lens just needed cleaned, Good Luck.
Go to the SONY website, download the latest firmware version for the player. The SONY site gives you instructions on how to burn and flash the firmware update.
Most likely you need to 'flash' (update) your BDP-S300's firmware. I had the same issue while trying to play AVTR in my BDP-S300. I downloaded Sony's latest firmware update, burned it to disc and popped the disc into the player... It takes 5-10 minutes for the 'flashing' to take place. AVTR now works in my player... Had to do this with one other Blu-ray movie about 18 months ago also.
Download the latest firmware version for the BDP-S300 here...
Try to update the firmware on the player by going to this website http://www.blu-ray.com/firmware/firmware.php?id=10 the newest version is 5.20 fixes alot of problems including playback issues with some BD movies and safe the file into a flash drive and plug it in on the back USB port, go to menu/firmware update run the update.
Go to Support at Sony .com ( in USA or Sony Europe in UK) and look for Firmware updates. You download to computer then burn an ISO CD-R Disc. This is then out in your player and updates it. All instructions are on the Sony site withe the Firmware download.
The software updates for your Sony BDP-S350 can be found at their website here. You will need to download the file, burn it to a disc and then load the disc into your player to upgrade its software to play your new blu-ray movie.
Updating the firmware of your player can be a solution: it resolved this problem on my BDP-S300. How to do this and downloading the newest firmware see:
US players: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=BDPS300
European players: http://support.sony-europe.com/hav/downloads/downloads.aspx?l=en&m=BDP-S300&f=FW_BDPS300
I found out on the internet that there is a BDP-S300 Firmware Update last modified on 6/20/2008.
It requires downloading a file and burning it on to a CD-R. Then you would load it into your Blu-Ray Disc Player to upgrade the version you currently have.
If you are successful in updating, your 21 Blu-Ray Disc should work. It finally worked for me.
The link you will need to go to in order to download the file for the update is:
