Access error when sony dsc-w55 is turned on it says access and to turn camera on and off. any suggestions on how to fix

Hi,
Due to malfunctioning of FLASH UNIT assembly this message appears"turn off the power and on again". A very common problem in these models. Just replace the COMPLETE FLASH ASSY and camera will work fine again. The detail of part is given below:

there is a problum (focus is not inislize) in this case lense block is replaced so please go to your nearst sony service centre & fix this problum

Bang in in table. Turn it on again and gently hold lens out. Viewfinder will spring into action again immediately!!!

Try reformatting your memory card.

this problum is related with optic zoom lenz assy its not work propally so thats why screen shows access problum pleae go to your nearst sony service centre & fix the problum or repair optic zoom assy

Please remove the Battery from the Camera then reinsert it after two minutes. Make sure that the Battery is fully charged. if menu options are accessible on the Camera then reset it to the original factory settings. Please follow the steps that are mentioned below to reset the Camera to the original factory settings:

(i) Please turn ON the Camera.
(ii) Then use the control button on the Camera to the select the Setup (setting) option.
(iii) Next, select the Setup1 option then "initialize".

Performing the above mentioned steps will reset the Camera to the original factory settings. If the issue persists then service will be required.

Hello samtx930, "turn off the power and on again" its a very commen problem and occurs when the lens block assembly start malfunctioning. Actually the slide motor not work properly and until the lens not come out completely the camera will not work, that's why the error message appears "Access" and then screen shows "turn off the power and on again". In this situation you have to replace lens block assembly.And the part No. is with description is given below: 1-788-363-11 OPTICS UNIT (ED13A) Thanks for using fixya.

I had the same problem with the lens, here how you can fix the error, when the lens is coming out gently pull it until you here a small click then try to take a pic and your back in business. it really works

Yeah, try to tapp the lens assembly with finger when it keeps going in and out.
