I have an old hughes sd dvr 80 and it wont work with my directv.the reason i want to use this box is because one of my new hd directv dvr boxs is not working. called directv and they were no help!! they want to just sell me a new box for about 100 bucks.and then i still dont own it because they say its a lease box.and if i deside to leave directv they take box back ********!!! how can i get my old box to work please help thanks

get new ones i just had 2 boxes replaced 1 was sd-hbh and the other was a hi-def box both were fried cause the nit wit that set up the system didn't ground the dish and we got a lightning strike that fried them.... i would call direct tv or whoever your sat provider is because mine were replaced for free with 2 brand new boxes.... and you should check to see if your dish is grounded it will usually be grounded to a water pipe somewhere in the area of where your multi-switch is located

the are some new features that tivo does not support. you still can watch your saved programs. Sadly the older tivos are equipped for the digital transitoins. I know Tivo and Directv are releasing a new receiver in a few months.

not without a subscription to Directv. after it enters the box it is basicly a Directv signal, it has to show up on the program guide.

unfortunately you cannot run a ps2 or any other device through the receivers. take a look at the tv may have inputs on the front or side of tv where you can use red/white/yellow cabling OR take a look at what type of cabling your tv does support and go from there. hope this helps.
