Bulb/Fluid? My Brother gave me a 43inch Sony KP43HT20 Rear Projection TV. He said that the red bulb was out. Anyway's i proceeded to remove the casing to access the BULBS. I turned a silver screw and an oil started coming out of what i think is the projection lens housing!@#$%^ Now the oil has leaked down onto the curcuit board below--That does seem to be a problem i can clean that up. But i now see that the Bulb is buried much deeper into the Chassis ofthe TV than i anticipated. Is there a service manual i can find online for free that may help with this issue? Should i just take it to the TV repair shop & get screwed? is this TV even worth the trouble? Just wondering. I would gladly take all the help you can give. Thank You!

SOURCE: REAR PROJECTION TV SCREEN GETTING HARD TO SEE

Hi,
Your TV requires service and cleaning of screen, mirror and 3 lenses (of CRTs) as looks dusty.
Below is an exploded view how to take off front beznet assembly of this TV to clean inside with moist cotton cloth.
Unplug TV before taking off front of TV.

SOURCE: Sony Wega KF-42E200A Projection Bulb

New bulb is just fine.
3 blink shows that lamp cover after replacement of bulb in TV is not fixed properly or not seated well in its position.
Put new bulb and carefully place back lamp cover in its position because lamp cover will press tinny safety switch inside that will send signal to system control of TV that lamp is installed properly.
Turn On TV and get vivid picture of Sony.
Thanks.

SOURCE: Sony - KP61XBR48. I need to know a model of the replacement Lamp

First of all, there are no lamps inside this set, there are CRTs. These are not just replaced as lamps would be. The CRTs themselves will run at leas $80 each. To change these will require replacing the coolant for the CRT as well which is not a DYI type of job. The coolant is dangerous and needs to be handled carefully. Also, once a CRT is replaced, a complete mechanical and electronic convergence adjustment must be made. There is a specific order in which to do this that is outlined in the service manual and it requires a template that would need to be purchased as well.

Unless there is a specific problem that needs to be addressed, it is unlikely that any of the CRTs needs to be replaced.

If you are having a problem with the set, can you please update this with a description of the problem? We should be able to assist in the resulution of the problem with something less drastic than CRT replacement.

Thanks,
Dan

How to replace rear projection lamp ?

ok first put the back back on and all screws back in unit. The bulb is located on the front of this TV. Now on the back of the unit on each side there is 1 plastic straight head screw on each side of the back of the tv turn these and on the front where the power button is thats a panel that pulls off the bulb is right behind that panel u have to unscrew to phillips screws on bulb case and it pulls right out, the front panel sometimes takes a good little tug to pop it loose just make sure those plastic screws on each side right on the back of tv are loose first. Hope this helps good luck.

Not sound or picture from the TV

If it has been over 2 years on this bulb, I would start there cause it will need one soon anyway.
Projection TV makers charge an arm and a leg for their replacement lamps. They make it easy to do but as a result the custom lamp assy is expensive. The trick is to just buy the bulb for your model TV from any number of us aftermarket sources at a fraction of the lamp price and install it in the old lamp yourself. really easy. However, this is one of the model that Sony has class action lawsuits against them on because it has so many problems with the light engine. See this:
