The inline transformer in the power supply for my wife's Asus Eee1000HD Netbook was damaged in the folding mechanism of the recliner sofa. Now the activity light on the transformer fails to glow and no power is available in the adapter plug on voltage testing. There is 120V by testing in the wall cord at the transformer input. In order to recharge the battery I used a Multi-Voltage Power Supply with the proper plug tip. This supply was rated at 15V output while the Asus supply was 12V. I thought that an abbreviated charging cycle would restore some battery life without damaging the PC and since the computer came to life and operated normally I shut it down and let it charge for about an hour, unattended. When I returned no charging was happening, no lights were on, and no booting to the OS was possible. I then belatedly tested the supplies voltage and found it to be18V !!! I plan on trying a new Asus power supply with and without a new battery. However, I won't go that trouble if you think I've fried the innards of her PC. Are there other avenues to follow to ascertain the damage? James R. Anderson [email protected] (941)351-8014 i

It sounds like the battery is fried. Replace the battery, and purchase the appropriate charger. This should get you up and running again.

My 1 year old power recliner won't work

Check and see if you have power going to the chair there should be a light indicator somewhere on the chair letting you know there's power coming to the box if there's no power coming to the box the transformer is bad if there is no box than the motor is bad

Recliner sofa won't recline

Try looking next to your seat cover and the arm rest for a little pull handle. If it is a pushback recline model tried looking to see if the shipping ties are untied underneath. Or try simply pushing back while you're sitting in it with your shoulders.

What is a fold-out sofa-bed?

Fold-out sofa-beds are the most popular type of sofa-bed, and are usually the most expensive. They come with a separate mattress folded away inside. They operate using a spring-loaded opening mechanism. Most fold-out sofa-beds can be purchased alongside an entire set (including matching chairs, loveseats and foot rests).
