My pilot light goes out when I turn the t-stat to off. I can light the pilot light, but it will only stay lit when I have the t-stat on any temp setting. When I turn the pilot to on, the fryer fires as it should. When it gets to temperature and turns off, the pilot goes out. I believe I shorted out the millivolt control when I pressure washed everything.

SOURCE: problems with fryer

your problem is the thermostat is bad.the reason it shuts down is that it trips the hi limit.the hi limit is a saftey device that shuts the system down so the oil doesnt get too hot and catch on fire.remove all the oil from the tank and you should see 2 skinny metal bulbs one is the hi limit bulb the other is the t-stat bulb, make sure they are secured to the bracket.if the t-stat bulb isnt you will also have this issue, simply reattach it.let me know.

SOURCE: comercial deep fryer pilot light goes out

This problem could be caused by a few different things. You should check the condition of your pilot and the thermocouple, if the pilot is weak due to being dirty you will not generate the optimum Millivolts to run the fryer, you may need to dissassemble and clean the pilot. The thermocouple needs to be correctly placed in the pilot assembly, if it has dropped down to where it is not in the flame it will not work correctly. You may need a new thermopile as it may not be generating millivolts as needed. Gas pressure can cause this as well, if the pilot goes out then the main burners come on you should check the gas pressure. One more thing to check is the hi-limit thermostat, if this is cutting out early your pilot will go out. Imperial uses a self-resetting limit, after a few minutes your fryer will relight and work until if cuts out again. If your fryer pilot stay on with the thermostat off for long periods of time and does not go out immediately when the burners come on and the pilot is clean, you may need a hi limit. This is a lot of info, I hope it helps.

SOURCE: American range af45 pilot goes out when t-stat is set

Sorry to say this, you should not play around with gas equipment, please call in a gas fitter to deal with it. I know what is happening and if I tell you it is the gas pressure problem you still don't understand what I'm talking about or how to clean out the pressure vent hole or how to check the gas pressure because you don't have the proper equipment. Please let the right people do the right job. God Bless.

SOURCE: my fryer wont lit up the fire.only the pilot works

Check if there is sufficient gas supply as stated on the unit's nameplate. Check if there is no soot/ carbon build up on the thermopile for this will lessen the heat from pilot thus reducing milli volt it will generate to open the main valve, in short, main burner will not fire up if there is soot/ carbon on thermopile. Check and tighten also all of wiring connections.Check if the thermostat is set at higher temperature. If all of these did not correct the problem, try replacing the thermopile.

When I try to use my Thermolaire model SU402E, the pilot lights( and stays lit), but the main burner will NOT ignite.. any suggestions as to what could cause this if the pilot stays lit?

Bad igniter? When you 1st try it the gas valve will give enough gas that you would get the burner lit if the igniter was glowing red. If you're desperate you can light the igniter area w/ an aim n flame, but you definitely want to do that w/ caution and crank up your t-stat so the furnace stays on awhile Cuz you'll have to do it again for heat or buy an igniter($40 or so)

Fryer cut off but pilot stays on

You could have a weak pilot or thermopile. If the thermopile is not heated correctly by the pilot, it cannot generate enough millivolts to open the gas valve. The same is true if the thermopile is faulty. Thermopiles consist of several junctions of which only some may go bad causing low millivolt output. Millivolt output with the thermostat off and pilot lit should be around 600 millivolt, you can check with a DC multimeter set on MV across the two wires coming from the thermopile. Remember, the thermopile has to be heated by the pilot thoroughly before you will get the full millivolt reading and the thermostat must be off. Cleaning the pilot assembly is often helpful, thermopiles are inexpensive and relatively easy to change. Of course, other problems can cause this issue as well, but the above are most common.

Pilot light goes out after thermostat kicks off

If it's a direct spark ignition type heater maybe that's how it's designed to.work .When called for heat pilot open allowing gas then ignitor spark and ignite the pilot then gas valve open and allow gas through burner then unit fires off .
Once temp is met pilot valve closes and pilot out .

Why would the pilot light ignite then turn off?

If it is a true "pilot" light, it needs to be held down long enough to generate the milivolts needed to prove to the gas valve that he is ready to open, other wise the gas valve would open, not igniting, thus causing a "gas leak". Turn the t-stat OFF, turn gas valve to pilot, push down on pilot knob, light pilot and hold for 2 minutes. After 2 mins let go, and if pilot stays lit, turn gas valve to ON, and turn the stat to heat and turn it up to desired temp. If pilot does not stay lit after doing above, try sanding thermo couple( the thing the flame is sitting in) or just spend the $15 bucks and replace therm couple. [email protected]

Light pilot on Royal deep fryer. Pilot will not stay lit. Second fryer has larger pilot have no trouble keeping it lit. How can I adjust the pilot so that it will stay lit?

there is a small adjustment screw on the gas valve, turn it clockwise to increase pilot,if that does not work the vent cap on the gas regulator on the back of the unit could be stopped up,remove that cap ,clean out or replace unit can operate without it just fine.If you increase the pilot and it still wont stay lit replace the thermocouple

My living room gas heater will not stayb lit

Try replacing the thermo coupler. There should be a little bulb shaped part(like a pencil eraser) that the pilot light heats up .The other end screw into the gas valve. If this is going bad or has gone bad the pilot light will not stay lit. Most of these are under$10.Well good luck and try to stay warm.

Relatively new wall furnace suddenly stopped working.

if you are by passing stat at the gas valve and it is still not working,i would assume a bad control valve.
