first try changing the needles

make sure you have long thread tails and pull them behind the needle toward the back of the serger.

make sure there is no loose thread in the looper area

since the serger is making no chain
try new needles
rethread carefully
could also be a timing problem,, would need to be checked at a sewing machine shop

Serger thread breaks
1. Is the serger threaded correctly?
2. Is the needles inserted correctly?
3. Is one of the needles bent or damaged?
4. Is the tension adjusted too tightly?
5. Is the tension adjusted to accommodate thickness of thread being used?
6. Are you using inferior quality thread?
7. Is the thread feeding of the cone/spool freely?
8. Is the needle size correct for the type of fabric being used?
9. Are the needles being used the correct one for the serger?

have you tried changing the needles?

Open the tensions (set at zero) and have the presser foot up when threading.

Make sure the antenna if fully extended.

Turn the handwheel so the upper looper is at it's highest position.

Thread, beginning at the right thread cone unless the manual indicates differently.

After threading, set the tensions back to the recommended setting.

If this does not help, please provide more details.

You need to re-thread the serger.

Refer to the manual or open the front of the serger to see if the threading diagram is there.

With most sergers, you begin with raising the presser foot, then set the tensions to zero.

Begin the threading with the upper looper (curved looper), then the lower looper and the needles last.

Pull the thread under the presser foot and to the left side of the serger.

Set the tensions back to normal 4 - 5 usually.

Lower the presser foot and hold onto the threas tails as you stitch a chain. If the chain of the four threads is ok, you are ready to serge fabric.

You 910 serger doesn't have the option for a Chain Stitch. It is a 2, 3, or 4 thread serger. You can do a good number of different stitches but a chain stich is not one of them.

If what you mean it that it won't "chain off", meaning sew with no fabric beneath the foot as you gently pull the thread towards the rear of the machine, that could be for a number of different reasons. First, change the needles and unthread the machine and start over. If the threads are not exactly where they should be, your serger won't sew correctly. With some sergers, but not many (singer 14u64 comes to mind), the top of the stitch will be an overedge that mates with the right needle thread, and the left needle thread will appear as a separate straight stitch. When you look at the underside of the stitch, the overedge will go all the way over to the left needle (the full width of the stitch). This is normal if you have this type of machine. Another stitch some sergers do (2/4 thread sergers) is a 2 thread chain thal looks like a lone straight stitch on both sides, and a 2 thread separate overedge.

As far as the threading of the takeup, it totally depends on your model. Always post your model number when you have questions as sergers vary greatly in design.
