For switching off the closed caption option do the following.

1. Press CC on the remote.
• This will present the Closed Caption information display.

2. Press CC while the Closed Caption information is
still on the screen.
• Press repeatedly until you select the desired closed
caption service as OFF.

With our VIP receiver models, you have an option to turn on/off closed caption through the receiver. Press the Menu button on the remote, which will display the Main Menu on the TV screen. Press 8 (Preferences) and then press 6 (Closed Caption). On the Closed Caption screen, press 1. On the Closed Caption On/Off screen, select CC Off and then press Done from the TV screen (using your DISH remote). This will turn the feature off on the receiver. Test to see if it is turned off by watching a program that has CC. If it still appears, then the feature is activated through your TV. Please refer to your TV manual to turn the feature off. signal and most pre-recorded commercial video tapes provide closed

2 Press VOL+ to open the Closed Caption menu.

3 Press VOL + to turn closed captioning on.

4 Press CH to highlight "Mode." Press - VOL or VOL + to choose

"Capt." (captions) or "Text." In caption mode, captions appear and

5 If you wish, use CH , CH , or VOL + to change the captioning

channel or field. Then, press DISPLAY to return to normal viewing.

I need correct model number of your Sony tv as KV-32VA2 is invalid model number.
Please recheck model number that would be written on sticker pasted at back of tv to provide you helpful info about how to turn off close caption.

I dont know what model you have i see two on there website. i read manual for one of the 42 inch lcd tvs and i do see where you confirmed you said off to closed caption mode am i correct? Ok try this turn the closed caption on and exit menu. now shut off tv and turn it back on. now go into menu and turn closed caption mode to off now and exit menu and see if that helps. ok i hope this helps ....oh i forgot to mention make sure that you didnt enable the closed captioning on your cable box remote. Just might want to check with that. It might not be your tv at all it could be the cable boxes closed captioning service. I hope some of this helps if not see if there is a factory reset in the menu.

Apparently the 2002 Sharp model TV that I purchased has the closed captioning by default if the mute button is engaged. So there is no solution for my particular model, it has been built in this way. The only solution is not to use the mute button and lower the volume instead.

Does your cable company support CC?

Assuming whatever your TV receiving from has close caption. (Not all TV channel has close caption) Solution 1) Get a new universal remote that support your model and has close caption button. Once you program in the code for your TV model and it works then all button should also programmed including th close caption button. Solution 2) Search online for the owner manual and read see how to turn it on using buttons on TV (if possible). Solution 3) Get new TV with close caption. (If you have an old old TV with bad and huge pixels then this solution is the best. Your eyes will thank you.)
